On the contrary ricotta cheese is traditional lasagna. I myself do a mixture of both ricotta and cottage.

I was about to saying the exact same thing. I’ve never seen cottage cheese used in lasagne. That sounds weird and would ruin the taste for me.

Ricotta cheese is only used in Italian-American lasagne. If by traditional, you mean Italian Bolognese style, then bechamel sauce is used - no ricotta. And no cottage cheese, even in the Italian-American version!

Ricotta is the proper way to make a lasagna. Cottage cheese in a pinch.

10 years ago, the quality of all their lasagnas was so much better. Last week, I got a frozen scalloped potatoes, and it tasted like they didn't even wash the russet potatoes. It's put me off prepared food. I miss their Cheeseburger Macaroni (with the little bits of pickle), and their Butter Chicken Lasagna the most. (Their Penne Marinara wasn't bad either) I am excited to see their new frozen foods these days though. I'm surprised gnocchi wasn't something they arrived at sooner, but I guess it's one of those things that's still easy enough to make from scratch.

Holy cow, what a mess!!! That lasagna is okay, I only buy it when it’s on sale and I always add extra cheese on top. IMO, the only good frozen lasagna is the Kirkland one from Costco. But the best premade lasagna to me, is the fresh lasagna at Costco, over in the premade meal area!

Premade frozen lasagna never seems to be very good, it's a little shocking considering how easy it is to make. Basically just layer fried ground beef mixed with bottled sauce and cheeses and even if that's all you do it's way better.

It would be better without the ricotta cheese . You should try Peter the Chef frozen lasagna. That’s really good . They sell them at Freshco. Here in Ontario it’s $5.99 for 900 grams. Once in a blue moon they are on sale for $3.99 which I bought 8 of them 😁😁

Frozen meals have gone way down hill in recent years. They were cutting back even before the pandemic but it's just awful now. The one I liked was the Western Family Enchilada Pie from Save on Foods, but that was years ago now.

My daughter hates lasagna with "white stuff" in it, yet I buy this and I don't think she notices. It's not the greatest but sometimes you've got to do what's easy. The family can manage to get this in the oven while I'm still at work. I've never heard of the other one you mention, but maybe I'd recognize it by package. We also (daughter not included) like the chicken lasagna from PC. They used to have a Pizza one that passed the kid test but it's long gone

Cottage cheese better than ricotta? Nah, I doubt that one, but I guess it’s a matter of taste. My mother’s lasagna is the best though, she doesn’t put either of them though, she makes a béchamel sauce instead, it’s a traditional Florence Italy recipe. Once you try it that way, you’ll never go back 😋😋😋😋

For things like this you should probably invest in some protective eyewear. Nothing crazy expensive - just those plastic clear glasses often seen in science labs. I'd hate for that scorching hot sauce to fly up into your eyes and injure them.

@@JFRJesse Don't it's the worst of the worst, it's a Niagara Falls ON brand and you were right the PC Lasagna is a wee bit better than the Roman brand....The best one that I had so far is the Metro grocery one (the former Dominion Stores), they are from Ontario east I think, great flavour and not watery at all, for now that is my top choice for frozen Lasagna!!!!
