I'm an ex-American who fired my fascist warmongering nation and adopted Mexico as my home. Never have I been freer, happier, safer or less stressed. There is time to think, play, converse and relax here because it is relatively easy to get the basic needs of life, and the gap between rich and poor is slowly narrowing. AMLO and Morena are undoing decades of right wing fascist policies favoring US corporations at the expense of the pueblos and that is changing fast. Machismo and plantation culture are dying, the church's influence is waning and unions and collectives are starting to form. The hard working honest people now see a way out of generational poverty as more nearshore manufacturing makes it's way here, including Chinese investment in electronics and car plants. Mexico needs to look to BRICS to avoid the dying dragon of US Empire that only brings death, destruction and sanctioned misery to its partners. If US dares see troops here, I know who I'll be fighting for. F Ken Salazar, Lindsey Graham and the bloodthirsty fascists who haven't learned a thing about diplomacy, trade or win-win partnerships.

With an 60% Meztizo population and another 22% full indigenous population, Mexico is still fundamentally indigenous overall in its people and culture despite how television portrays that country. Mexico is a biracial multi ethnic people. Mexico has a lot of European and Native indigenous culture. You cant say Mexico is only one culture or ethnicity that isn't accurate at all. Mexico just takes pride in their native ancestry and seeks to preserve it unlike most of Latin America that is ashamed to celebrate or have natives ancestry and claim to be "white" when they are clearly Mestizo. Mestizo is NOT indigenous which many racists like to call it that which is absurd. And so the Mestizo culture formed out of native and Spanish/Europeans culture and traditions creating a third new culture the Mestizo culture. Mariachi (Spain), Polka Dance(polish dance), Vaquero (Spain/Native), Musica Banda (comes from Germany) Mexican food is mainly Native Indigenous food. Dia de Muertos a native ancestral tradition from Aztecs Quinceañera as well, Piñata, tequila, many folk dances also come from Natives and Spanish. Mexico is also influenced by Cuban dances like the mambo and the danzon and Mexican music Sonora santanera. Mexican CUmbia from colombia. Mexico originally was native but Mexico is not the same Mexico of 500 years ago. Its the land of the Mestizo the result of the past 500 hundred years of merging and mixing cultures. Mexico also has Asian and African influences. Mexico is not just indigenous however it is Mexico's original original ancestry just like USA original ancestry is native people. Mexico does have a colorism issue which you see more in Mexican Hollywood but that exists in USA as well and all races and ethnicities of the world. Mexico being affected by the Eurocentric beauty standard is not strange since there are at least 50 million white Mexicans, 10 million natives and 80 million Mestizos. Of course a white Mexican or Mestizo would fit that Eurocentric Beauty image better than a native to go into Mexican hollywood its the result of what is considered beautiful or marketable. Its the result of colonialism and euro beauty standards. Brazil does the same most people on their magazines and tv are white Brazilians yet Brazil is full of Mulattos, Mestizos, Blacks and indigenous people and asians too.

as an American, living and working in Mexico, I really hope that, in her presidency we see some really good progress made here. Mexico and its politics are as complicated as any other country, lots of moving parts, but prioritizing becomes the key to see potential actualized and progress made! I would just love to see relations between our countries improve dramatically, work on some good policy to fix the border issues first and foremost, it's getting exhausting and tiresome to keep going back and forth on this issue and really seeing no progress. And I have always said, what Mexico could do is really watch and learn from the US and not commit the same mistakes. I love Mexico and call it my second home! tbh, I spend more time here than the US...

Mexican independent journalists have mentioned that ALMO campaigned on bringing to justice those responsible for the 2014 Ayotzinapa massacre as one of his presidential goals, but struggled to arrest one of the architects of the 42 student massacre, who fled to Israel. ALMO tried diplomacy to have Israel extradited this former top state official but Israel refused to comply and I hear negotiations are still ongoing, which might explain the new president's coyness about speaking up on the current Palestinian situation.

Mexico is showing us what the real democracy looks like, also for fixing the corrupt Supreme Court (USA) should do the same here by letting (we)people vote for Supreme Court members ..not by the president because by doing that becomes a conflict of interest just like the problem that we have right now.🐛

The whole Spain's right and far right are very pissed off, bitching and moaning about her, so she must be good for Mexico; part of the thing of Spain's don't apologize with Mexico for what we did on the conquest is that it would open the door to ask, rightfully, for reparations and... as we're a poor rigth or neo-lib US lap dog country... "we" don't want to do it; i want and hope the best for Mexico and the mexicans, and that can only come from the true left and "far" left.
