However, they are doing it in a very predatory fashion. They lock many of these countries in long (99 year) leases with ridiculous amounts of interest. When these countries inevitably default on the loans, the Chinese government takes over the ports, manufacturing facilities, etc. They install 5G networks made from their own companies that collect data from any device connected, leaving no privacy to the end user. They are trying to expand influence to the places that U.S. has little to no influence and it is working. I would be cautious of your new friends.

What about Hong Kong and Taiwan? What about the Uyghurs who they have put in concentration camps? Forcing their wives and families to marry and live with random chinese people in their own homes against their will. What about all the slave labour? What about cobalt mining and slavery in Africa? What about all the censorship and lack of freedom? You can not question the government freely in China even if you are rich and own your own company. The "west" is not "good", but China is unfortunately worse in many aspects when it comes to freedom of speech, democracy, slavery and freedom in general.

Roughly 500 years.Look as far back as you want. The only way of surviving is through a major change. Lets look at European history little boy. The Romans had their shine. You have the initial kings, then republic and the emperor and splat. Rome couldn't change fast enough. Its counterpart, the eastern roman empire, was only saved when it converted its faith. Even later France and England lived through a change in goverment and world wars. Then you got China. The difference is, every fall, they come back for roughly 500 years before they change goverments. Thats been happening 5000 years now. What read about China is just the end if a corrupt chinese era and the start of a clean slate. You most likely didn't know this, but after the Ming dynasty fell, a new dynasty called the "Qing" meaning "clean" in Mandarin began and it grew corrupt. What to take from this? China will dominate the next few hundred years and your goverment will undergo reformation that will likely end desolation. Another pattern is that the more advanced information becomes, the longer it takes for reformation. i would worry about your own inter affairs. Say, having on average a school shooting every 2 weeks in the us. Decaying civilian infrastructure, bombing everybody for oil, neglating your own citizens in europe. (Sweden, England, Germany, France). Suprisingly its the same countires the west disagrees with that are serving its own people the best. Poland is a great example. Be like Poland for the sake of your family and friends. :)

In the world full of fake news and creative narratives, we, the private individuals, are often confused with the “truth” from the media. I choose to look at the results of all the accomplishments and sufferings around the globe and draw my own conclusions behind these facts. China lifted 700 million people out of extreme poverty in 40 years, the Belt and Road initiative attracted more than half of the world’s countries to sign up, and many countries wanted to join the BRICS ……. To me, there are tremendous amounts of individual freedoms that have been achieved and created around the world. That is accountability to me.
