This is a great product; my only comment is there is no instruction on routing Revelator to Studio One, Skype, Streamyard, etc., on a PC. I put in a support ticket as a sphere member on the 28th of November with no response to this date. I usually get a quick response.

As usual with these "desktop" microphones, you have to put it on top of a box for it to sound right. (and yes you can screw a boom arm into the bottom of it, which is always awkward with a side-address microphone.) Looks good otherwise! Thanks for the thorough review.
@ckjjclan3 жыл бұрын
Design Updgrade - Bottom of the stand needs better isolator material... its such a sensitive mic you can hear all the bumps and taps on the desktop coming through! Seems small, could put it on a mousepad perhaps (or something to get some isolation), but it would be easy to add at production. I know you can boom it or stick it on a mic standout if I am going to do that to get rid of that "bump" noise, then give me the option to NOT buy the mic with the stand and save me $20-30... I know I know, small nit picking point... great review, very compelling mic.

Could I use this usb condenser mic directly in an iPhone or iPad with an adapter? Also will I need an powered usb hub? I am looking for great mic to record my drum kit in to my iPhone or iPad software recording drum covers. A two mic setup would ideal. The onscreen interface that comes with the microphone. Will I be able to use this to edit my recordings. I am currently using Audacity and WavPad.

I appreciate your video and your honest review. My home studio is primary Presonus, and so I was wondering if Presonus had a good USB mic. @The Gear Cage you really helped me with my decision to go ahead and purchase the PreSonus Revelator USB Microphone and gained a new sub in the process.

How would the sound quality of the Revelator compare to the Rode-NT-USB?
@TheGearCage3 жыл бұрын
Hmmm “More Better” But for real, it would be quite a bit better on about every level. Better capsule/converter/software/routing flexibility etc.
@iLLStaticProductionsBeats3 жыл бұрын
which is better, this or the audio technica 2020usb+ ?
@TheGearCage3 жыл бұрын
Definitely the revelator. It sounds better, but more importantly the DSP and app control is a huge part of it.

Would you recommend this mic for a room that has no provision for the natural house echo, or is it better for someone to use a dynamic mic in this case?
@TheGearCage3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I think it’s still a great choice. You could pair it with izotope Neutron and RX to get it dialed in or maybe use a Reflexion Filter to minimize room reflections.

Would you also recommend it to mic an electric guitar amp?
@TheGearCage3 жыл бұрын
I tend to favor dynamic and ribbon mics on electric guitars but the Revelator is great on an acoustic guitar or electric cab thanks to the built/in DSP it’s easy to properly EQ and compress it.

So, I just picked up the Revelator and I’m wondering what the best settings are for my voice. I’ve tested a few settings so far but I’m not liking what I’m hearing, whereas your voice sounds has some great bass to it and sounds really good.
@TheGearCage3 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for watching! I just used the Broadcast Male patch for the video and then did a little bit of post processing through Neutron 3 from iZotope. That said, if you opened up the advanced fat channel you could really dial your EQ/compression in that way to suit your voice more.
