The Expander - A Video Manual | PreSonus

You've heard of a compressor, but what is an expander? The Expander is a powerful clean-up tool that can help you get rid of noise in your audio tracks - but it can also be used to achieve results such as shortening the room ambience on a busy drum recording.

The Expander should have been an upwards expander instead of a downwards expander. As it is, it's just a duplication of the Gate.

Greg, is there any solution to cancel the USB digital noise?

The Expander should work nicely for this as well! Another thing that could help is increasing the gain in order to increase the dynamic range to the USB noise floor (meaning, it will not be audible before your signal starts clipping). -GBY
