Man! Thanks for the 2nd method. That's the way I'll work now. I always was cutting things and moving completely. This here is more pro :)

That sliding and crossfading thing was brilliant, thanks a lot!

FANTASTIC Tip on the second one, I never knew that you can slide clips like that. Thank You.

My mentor, for whatever reason, preferred to not use crossfades, so he would line up the clips to zero crossing points, which can, on occasion, add to the perception of realism of the edited audio. I’ll have to try the “snap cursor to zero crossings” feature in this scenario and see if I can do that old method I learned back in the day much quicker.

I still cross fade, but I do use the zero crossing point to extend or blend a vocal part together. Super effective at creating a vocal that sounds unedited

Zero crossings are great, but it takes more time. And if you don't get it right, you can get a pop or click. I never get pops or clicks with crossfades. And I can do them with one press of "x" on my keyboard.

@@HomeStudioCorner I hear you. I have done crossfades for speed as well, although since discovering “snap to zero crossings,” I personally can execute them faster sometimes. But, and I would say this for crossfades too, I always feel I need to listen to whatever the edit is, to make sure it sounds right. Where I find it more significant is in the mastering domain, which is where I do most of my post-work these days. There is a more significant difference there, dealing with a complex, mixed track with lots going on, and conversely with a very sparse mix. Appreciate you, as always, Joe.

Bend markers is something I never fully understood until now. I would hardly quantize complex audio because of it. Thanks!

Thank you so much for the second tip ! I had a instrumental version of Kashmir of Led Zeppelin with only bass + strings + horns (lasting more than 8 minutes), with a variable tempo and I had to timestretch it all the way to re-put it on the click for our drummer to load on his spd-s ; it took me more than 5 hours on AudaCity ; Now i'm a beginner on Studio One, and with that technique on Studio , sure it would take 3 ou 4 time less.

Third method: Use Melodyne. At least for vocals and solo guitar or similar. Also remember that in some cases (vocals in particular), it may also matter where the note ends. So you may need to stretch or shorten it. This is most relevant for the last note in a phrase.

Hi Joe, thanks a lot for this tips, it's quite useful! I have a question that can really help me and other users: is it possible to quantize, not on the grid, but to a reference track? That will be really helpfull to glue bass and drums or even vocals together. I actually really wish this fonction exist!!

Thanks for this tutorial. Question If the timing of the audio track is correct how does one adjust the midi timing to match the audio tracks timing? Maybe you can show how in a future video

It's nice and all but let's be honest.. if we have like 20 vocal takes and we need them to be as tight as possible it would take too much time to align all of the takes in studio one! We need a VOCALIGN in STUDIO ONE 7! - great tutorial though;d

Yeah, when the bend is off it's obvious - sounds awful, and some instruments are easier to do than others - like older keyboards don't like too much of this fix.

The way you and Gregor go through things so quickly is a bummer. The way you assume we all now the commands and then move on so quickly is disappointing. Please slow down sometimes 🙏

I REFUSE to record someone who can't keep simple time! There's nothing more frustrating in life and quite absurd for someone claiming to be a "musician" or "recording" artist. You must be a Saint Joe 😂
