Press Coverage: Ohio State In Need of New Offensive Line Coach as Justin Frye Leaves for NFL

Ohio State now has a second vacancy on its coaching staff for 2025 as Justin Frye is leaving his post as offensive line coach after three seasons with the Buckeyes to take on the same role with the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals.
It’s a logical move for Frye that speaks to his ability as an offensive line developer while allowing him to no longer have to worry about recruiting, but it thrusts the Buckeyes into the market for a new offensive line coach in addition to a new defensive coordinator.
Who could replace Frye as Ohio State’s offensive line coach? We weigh some of the potential options including former Ohio State offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson and renowned former Buckeye lineman LeCharles Bentley, among other names that could emerge as Ohio State’s search begins.

Ohio State needs to talk Orlando Pace into being the O-line coach. Who would be better than him in recruiting and coaching them up? I've been suggesting this for months now

Frye presided over O lines who have had a lot of problems with zone, especially stretch zone. He either had a come to Jesus moment or someone forced him to switch to counter trap blocking run plays after Michigan. Le Charles Bentley and Orlando Pace know what they are doing and who would not want to be coached by two of the best to ever play the game.

Chip Kelly, Tim Drevno played a major part in the success of the offensive line. Will Howard’s positivity and leadership also helped the offensive line believe in themselves.

Whoever comes in is coming into a room with 3 starters from a national championship team and 2 portal studs. The pieces are there to pull a top end OL coach from another top program.

I think Day will upgrade Drevno but it would be really good idea to hire Kevin Wilson on staff to prepare for chip to leave next year and Frye contract was up yesterday so not sure if Day was going to keep him anyway..elerbee would be great for recruiting

I thought Chip Kelly brought with him OL Coach from UCLA. He was originally hired as an analyst. Then when the rules changed he was also coaching the OL. Why are we panicking?

THANK GOD!!!! Dude has been a massive underachiever in recruiting and has produced some of the all time worst O Lines in Ohio State history. Chip Kelly was able to fill the holes using world class scheming but its time we get some 5☆ OL to match the rest of the team. Im surprised he was able to keep his job after the Cotton Bowl train wreck against Missouri

You know there is only one or two 5 star Offensive Line prospects every year usually right? Also all those 5 star OLine recruits everyone wanted to cancel the season over because OSU didn't get them ended up either as absolute busts or never lived up to the ranking and OSU ended up with better players anyway.

There were 8 five star OTs in the 2025 class and OSU got NONE of them. None. Even with all the weapons on offense and the highest NIL budget and Frye still couldn’t get anyone.
