My husband Rich Merritt and I (Linda Merritt) were one of the teams who entered who just wanted to finish -- and we did. Our "Finisher" plaques are among our most prized possessions. We were Car #151 and, although I didn't see our car in this footage, it was great to see this video and remember how it was.

I remember The POR when it ran in the Keweenaw in the 80's. Jon Davis and his support for Rally is deeply missed.

Thanks for this blast from the past! I was part of the support crew for the Dart Performance Subaru team and my husband was a driver. Those three cars were shipped to Texas from Japan and the guys picked them up and drove them to Michigan. I believe that was the beginning of Rallying for Subaru in the US.

The guy with dark glasses and beard driving Polish Fiat is Andrzej Jaroszewicz, also known as "Red Prince." He is a son of former Polish Premier Piotr Jaroszewicz. He finished this rally in 12th place. The fastest Polish Fiat finished in 6th place (Robert Mucha/Ryszard Zyszkowski). The last Polish Fiat finished in 15th (last classified) place (Marek Varisella/Janina Jedynak). Six cars DNFed.

Hello I have sent you a message. Is your husband still alive? I really would like to contact him as we now have two old Subaru GL coupes and want to build a replica of the rally car from 1973...He might be a great source of information...!

unfortunately americans prefer nascar and indy racing...there aren't american rally driver in wrc..and ken block isn't a rally driver -.-
