I struggle to understand Sway’s side of the trade dispute. He’s worth 6-7 million or less based on every available metric. He had 2 good seasons both of which he played fewer games than most full time starters in the league. He had a great playoff, yes, but netminders are notorious for being streaky. He hasn’t won a Vezina and he’s never been a full time starter, let alone one of the best full time starters in the league. And based on his rhetoric and how drawn out this has been, it’s safe to assume he’s asking for more money than every goaltender that fills those criteria. Yes, I get it, the cap is going up and he’s “setting the tone” for goalie contracts. But the fact remains he’s still untested when it comes to taking a full starter’s workload. 6-7 mil for 8 years is generous, and is actually a huge risk for the Bruins.

Hate to say it but I agree. Sways been my favorite player since Thomas but man…this has just gone on way too long. I’m 50/50 on Sweeney but I’m with him on this one

I don't blame any player who wants to chase the bag, ever. Kid could be Kreider'd in the first game of the season and boom, his career is over. The onus is on the Bruins, ya goofballs traded away your leverage and decided NOT to bring this to arbitration. Should've kept Ullmark and negotiated from a position of strength, or at the very least, bring it to arbitration.

@@ljakian Keeping Ullmark just wasn’t feasible cap-wise. The Bruins have the best goalie coaching in the league, that’s why almost all of our goalies are developed in our system THEN become top-tier goalies. Raycroft, Rask, Thomas, and Swayman were all home grown. Not to mention that Ullmark was a mid-tier backup in Buffalo when we picked him up, and then our goalie coaching turned him into a Vezina winner. In other words Korpisalo could very well pan out. He might not, but it’s certainly far from an impossibility. And the fact remains Swayman is still relatively untested as a full time starter. No team is going to be willing to pay him more than 7-8 million AAV thanks to his small sample size and the fact that statistically better HoF candidate goaltenders are getting paid less than what he’s asking for.

@@regancorbett1562 Then to arbitration it should've gone. And I agree with you on Korpisalo, he'll probably work out as a starting goalie, especially with the D getting stronger with the signage of Zadorov + the youth getting better. My point was that asking for what you think you're worth is totally fine as a player. Athlete's have one thing for a short amount of time to make them millions. I don't fault any of them for that.

Im sad about the contract dispute between bruins and swayman

No joke, I've been losing sleep over the sway contract all summer, and the more I hear him speak the worse it gets. I have no idea how he thinks he is worth so much money, he hasn't been a full time starter ever...he is still 100% potential, nobody knows if he is even worth the 7-8 mil a year that we all thought was happening.

If Sway messes around enough they will trade him. He hasn't proven anything yet. I love him but he really hasn't proven shit yet.

Just trade Swayman to the worst team in the NHL. Make him realize how good he had it with the Bruins organization. Trade him to the worst team if needed. Sad his Ego is blinding him, and how good the Bs are to him.
