Swimming in sea water would be easier than swimming in lake water. The reason for this can be explained by buoyancy which is the force that causes objects to float. ### Explanation: - *Buoyancy:Seawater is denser than the lake water because the later is salty as compared to the former. This increased density gives more buoyancy, so your body is more apt to float in seawater than in fresh water. This means that when you are swimming in seawater, the energy that is used to float the body is less than that required when in fresh water hence making it easier to swim. - *Salt Content:* The salt in the seawater makes the water to be heavier hence has a higher density. In freshwater such as in a lake, there is far much less dissolved material and therefore the water is relatively lighter. Therefore, one has to struggle more to float in a lake than in the sea, for instance. ### Defense: Floating in seawater is easier compared to fresh water because of the buoyancy and may help those who are not very good swimmers or are beginners to swim with much ease. Swimming in a lake may feel more tiring because the water is less dense and hence to float, one has to exert more force than in a pool. Therefore, from the physics point of view, seawater is easier to swim in than lake water because of the buoyancy.
