BurbBilly, my Homelite 2700 pressure washer had no pressure this spring. I noticed dripping underneath and replaced the thermal release valve. That fixed the drips but still no pressure. I found your video. Followed your instructions and now the pressure washer works great! Since it was out of warranty, you saved me a bunch of time and money. Thanks, Bill

I had the same issue with my Homelite 2700... called the tech line and told them I ran Purple Power through it once in 3 years, earlier that day. The tech said I destroyed the seals and would need a new pump. Went to Home Depot where I bought it and they don’t even sell Homelite anymore. Soaked the pump in CLR and searched KZbin. Your video came up and I tried it! Success! Thanks for doing this video, it saved me $75 and a lot of time!

Thanks for this video. My Simonize pressure washer quit working today [Saturday]. The motor worked fine so I thought is was the pump. I went into town to look for a replacement pump and found a match for $169. But they were out of stock so I went back home thinking of another supplier which was closed today but open on Monday. I then checked KZbin to see how much of a job it would be to install a new pump. I then found your video and guess what? It was my unloader valve that had seized. You saved me some money and I owe you a great thank-you.

+Kevin Fogarty HAHA Thanks for the post Kevin, I'm glad you found the video helpful. If you drain the washer in the fall, empty the gas and store it somewhere it wont freeze you should be fine. Usually a "sticking unloader" (named so, because it "unloads" or re-directs water when the gun is triggered) in these (low volume) units is caused by calcium (lime scale) buildup that occurs during lack of use, not so much a lack of lubrication. Pump Guard provides a coating to prevent the build-up of scale. When putting the washer away for the winter, put some compressed air to the garden hose connection, and blow the excess water out of the pump, and the build-up slows dramatically. You can also run some "CLR" into the pump before (30 min or so) starting the machine to remove any build-up. -D. Yates (Karcher Commercial Pressure Washer Tech- 25+ years)

Hey - Thanks so much for this. I had the same problem with my washer, a Suburu EA190V, also from Costco - and the unloader valve was identical. Interestingly my valve wasn't seized up. It popped in and out without issue. Before I put it back in I turned the water on and let some run through now open valve housing. I then put it back together but the water wouldn't come through. I took a chance and started the machine up. There was about a 15 second hesitation and the water started. Works great.

Same machine and same problem, and it's only a year old. Was wracking my brain... Figured that bottom piece (unloader) was the culprit, but the manuals don't mention it anywhere, of course. Your video explained everything perfectly, and the steps were very easy to follow. Got it apart, freed up the stuck pin, and back together in 5 minutes (The screwdriver method was absolutely the way to go). Great video - you saved me countless hours looking for my warranty information, waiting for customer service, and repair hell. Thank you!!

Great video! From my experience, chlorinated and / or “hard water” builds up on the unloader valves (UV) and freezes them while in storage.. After you free up the UV, you should coat the O-Ring(s) farthest from the pump head with a SILICONE based (swimming pool type) grease.. Do NOT use petroleum based grease or petroleum jelly, it swells O-Rings and causes it’s own sticking issues.. On some / most units (Karcher etc) only grease the outer O-Ring.. if you lube the O-Ring on the base of the UV it will not stay in place and cycle correctly, it will kick the pressure in and out every few seconds.. (and drive you NUTS!) Sometimes you need to remove the UV and clean both the UV and pump where the base of the UV seats into the head.. Sometimes if you simply use the pressure washer for a few minutes the useful / correct operating pressure time increases incrementally until it washes the silicone grease off of the O-Ring at the base of the valve and the pump will keep making pressure again.. If you want to assure your pump works properly, clean and lube the UV before winter storage and it will be ready to go in the spring.. (Most pump storage liquid is typically inexpensive RV antifreeze.relabeled as “storage fluid” and costs 400% more..

You're welcome. I store mine in an attached garage and it went through the winter fine. Maybe pulling out the valve at the end of winter, cleaning in up and then reinstalling it in the spring will work for you. It's not a big deal to pull it. If it's not stuck. great to see someone helping out the home owners, I work on pressure washers and small equiptment to make a living, and it's almost always the unloader. either it's stuck, rusty, or the spring is broken. occasionally the pumps puke, but that's normally from either being run with bad/no oil in the pump or being over heated by letting it idle for two long

I bought a Black Max 3200 psi gasoline power washer last year. I used it four times and it would stutter a bit, then kick in. It was a little frustrating, being brand new. I called customer service and they told me not to take it back to the store that I bought it at, but take it to the nearest service store, which was in the next state. I hung up on them and just accepted it. I put it in the shed after I winterized it. I pull it out today,, the motor started on the second pull, and I was overjoyed... until, there was no water coming out. Then, I had to use channel locks and a vise grip to get the hose off. Instead of having a tube go to the bottom of the soap tank and come out of the top, they have a cap on top and it flows out of a disconnectable clear plastic hose at the bottom. So, if you should hit the bottom of it with a four-inch clearance, the tube comes off and good luck getting it back on with soap pouring out. That is what happened to me after I couldn't get it to work. I called the local lawnmower shop to see if they worked on water pumps and it would cost more than the power washer itself! They wanted to charge me an arm and a leg to fix my lawnmower carb last year, so I did what any other man would do, I learned how to fix it myself on KZbin,. The nice thing about a repair costing more than the machine, is that you can work on it and if you can't fix it, nothing is lost. I'm going to give your repair a shot. Thank you for the video.

Thanks for a great video. Just another tip. My Homelite was stored in my outdoor shed, but it didn't lose pressure all at once. I guess cause it is because we have pretty mild winters. Sometimes it had low pressure and the next time I go to use it, it was OK. So I guess this valve can stick once in a while. Either way I pulled it out, gave it a clean, worked the piston back and forth and "voila" it now works every time. And the screw driver trick is gold. Thanks Billy!

My late husband had a fairly new Troy-bilt 2600 power-washer with Honda motor. It sat in his tool room for close to 4 yrs and now I need to use it to wash the logs on the outside walls. I've emptied the old gas & oil. Now I need to replace them: (1) how much oil goes into the oil container? I've been using non-ethanol gas for awhile now & can determine how much for that. (2) I wonder if the air filter is missing from the side because I can't find one & it looks as though it could go onto this black box on side but doesn't have a cover on it (?). Info is very limited online, even the manual I printed from the co is vague, but THINK I can figure out what hoses go where. I've been working on this thing for over a week just trying to use it. ANY help would be SO appreciated!!! Thank you!!!!

Thank you!!! Power washer works perfectly now. This was exactly my issue... For all those tackling this, it takes some doing popping the valve out, I started with a screw driver and got nowhere until I tapped the sides of the valve with a hammer and that seemed to unfreeze it from the housing.... bottom line, keep prying on it and it will pop out.The only thing holding it in is friction. I unfroze the pin and it was as good as new. Great video.

Personally I had this issue as well. I live where it can get below zero during the winters. I was going to try this, but when I shut off the water, when the pressure from the hose was very low, the pump engaged. It might just be luck, but maybe try it before you start pulling parts. I just turned it to full for a few minutes, then lowered the hose pressure and it worked

This fix works! The instructions are perfect. 10 minutes instead of an expensive and time consuming pump replacement. Well done!

This video was great! Thank you Billy. My homelike pressure washer was low on pressure and I did exactly as you described in the video and it fixed my issue (including going right for the screw driver). Not sure if it would work with other pressure washers, but for my Homelite, it was the fix!! Thank you for taking the time to video how to fix!

Great video. I have the same pump on mine. Was wondering what that part was. My problem is that the three bolts at the bottom of the pump sheered off from pressure after three years. Going to try an attempt to fix it.

+StuartDesign101 Let me know how that goes for you and if you get it fixed. Be interesting to see how big of a job it is. Sounds like you'll have to drill the bolts out then?

Thank you so much! This quickly fixed my issue with a brand new Simpson MSH3125-S MegaShot 3100 PSI washer. I called Simpson and they were no help at all. After watching this video, I had it up and running in no time.

Billy, I have the exact model and performed the actions in this video but still no pressure. Any other suggestions? There is no water making it up through the pressure hose from what I can tell. Please advise and thank you in advance sir.
@burbbilly7 жыл бұрын
Earl, take the hose off and make sure the inlet is clear, if there is a screen make sure it's not clogged. Make sure you have good water pressure coming out your hose, then I'd say take the wand off and see if you can get water out the hose with the wand off. do all of this with the pressure washer off. If all your hoses and wand are clear then the problem has to be in the pump itself. The problem I cover here is no pressure but you have water flow to begin with. Your problem has to be a blockage somewhere Let me now what you find I learn something new pretty much every day from my viewers and this is a great platform to share diy knowledge to help others out.
