I have taken the time to send ryobi and email since I registered my New unit and already on there member site.I walked thru in detail the issue and compared my Older unit even after I just replaced the pump on it due to wear.I shared a link to My video here to clearly show it.Being Home depot does not sale the pressurized version in a can It surely would be problematic when you buy a new pw there.Since they sell Ryobi PW gas or electric.

So basically you discovered that the pump operates like an engine and has a compression stroke too? Pulling the cord to cycle the pump is the trick here.
@Ron1987Ай бұрын
@A.Edwardson The issue is the Pump design internally.Being I own 2 units 1 had the New style pump,2nd had the Older pump design.The New pump as I point out, will not allow the squeeze bottle pump protector to enter the housing.The compressed can has the ability to enter with no problem.Its not the Engine, it's Specifically the pump manufacturer changed something inside the pump.Thats all

Remove the spark plug to reduce compression. This allows you to squeeze the bottle and pull the cord simultaneously to get the protectant in to the pump. I have a Ryobi 3200psi gas pressure washer, just purchased in late 2021.
@Ron19872 жыл бұрын
While that may work.It seems really ridiculous to have to remove the spark plug every time just to use pump protector.I use pump prot. after each use of my unit because of the time I put on the unit.To have to go thru that bs to maintain the pump is obsurd.I just use as I have said plenty of times the pressurized can and no additional steps.Clearly the procedure your using is NOT what should be required to do this service stated by the manufacture and even the products made to lubricate the pump.Far easier to just use what I recommend with out the additional step of removing the plug.
@rustynissan2 жыл бұрын
Protectant goes in the water line, not the fuel line. Compression should not matter.
@spingus70912 жыл бұрын

I had the same issue with my new, electric Ryobi 2700 psi which had only been used for three hours. Like many others in this thread, the liquid pump protector would not go in. (BTW it did go in on another identical model a few months ago). I decided to hook the pressure washer hose back up and tried pulling the trigger to release any internal pressure. No sound, and nothing came out. But here's the good news: I reconnected the liquid pump protector back to the water input line -- and this time it worked!!
@robertmunguia2502 жыл бұрын
I had to get that one. I had the bottle also and the base where the whole engine and pump sits on there’s no clearance to screw it in. So I had to get that Stabil with the flex hose. Seems like it worked. My inlet and discharge are facing sideways therefore makes it hard to attach it.

Silly question here.But you Did remove the High Pressure line going to pump didn't you? This has to be unhooked to allow the pump protector to literally shoot out,then with the switch (engone) Off pull the cord 2 to 3 times.This cycles the pump prot thru the pump.Let me know if you did this correctly. R
@anthonyr5869 Жыл бұрын
Do you recommend pulling the cord to circulate the product into the pumps internal components. Also do you recommend using this chemical after every use? Does it have some sort of lubricating properties?

In short follow the steps I show,attach can hose to water inlet,squirt product into pump,then pull the 2-3 times.I usually do this process twice.I typically use the pump protector after every use and store my machine. NO just screw on the end from the compressed can to the water inlet.Then with the high pressure line disconnected press the button ,pull the end cord 2-3times wit the engine switch OFF..Just ensure the pump protector circulates thru the pump.You do not want water mixing with it when doing this process specifically to ensure the seals are lubricated prior to using your machine. I tend to do after I use mine and sits 4 a couple of days this keeps the seals lubed until u use it again.Ok

You are Incorrect! It clearly stipulates to squeeze the bottle to inject the fluid into the pump,Then pull the starter rope to cycle the fluid.And then squeeze the bottle a 2nd time and then pull the starter rope ensuring the pump protector exits the high pressure side.I think you have misinterpreted the process.Granted on my Homelite before I replaced My original pump this is Exactly what I did very simple.WIth the replacement pump and my new ryobi these New pumps will NOT take a liquid pump protector .Using the pressurized can You still have to pull the starter cord several time to cycle the the pump protector to ensure the seals are lubricated.Thats it

@Ron19872 жыл бұрын
Ok question.with the high pressure line connected and water hose connected and there is no water exiting the end of the wand tip.I as a general rule,bc I have quick connects to my line to my wand,I let the water cycle thru(eng Off) to remove the air trapped before hooking my wand to the hose.Then with the engine running I remove my tip,and squeeze the trigger and hold until any or ALL the air has cleared(meaning no coughing,or spurting water) it will just shoot a steady stream once this is done.You have to do this Every time you use the unit,because air is in the pump and or high pressure hose,and this will prevent premature pump wear or failure.If you do this step it should eliminate the problem unless you have a actual pump issue,but being New it should not already have the issue.In my video I illustrate how to use the compressed pump protector,high press line removed hook up can to water inlet,push button on can it should cycle in the pump.Once it spews out ,I pull the eng cord 2-3 times(eng off) and spray more pump protect and pull the cord again .Then just hook up your high press line and done.If you need more help just ask.

If you will get a short piece of garden hose with the male end and buy a gallon of RV antifreeze at Walmart. Then screw the hose on to the pump insert the other end into the gallon of antifreeze and start the motor and let it run about 3-5 seconds then it will cycle it completely through out the pump valves.
