Sometimes, GFCI plugs stop working especially on equipment like an electric power washer like I have here. You can hit reset all you want but the GFCI is dead at this point. When it goes out, it doesn’t mean the appliance is bad… And with the inexpensive Oaonan GFIC replacement plugs, you can easily get your power washer working again. They come in 2-prong and 3-prong models depending on what you need.
For a lot of people, a broken GFCI means throwing away an expensive power washer. But with the Oaonan plug, I just have to cut off the end and add the new one. After cutting off the GFCI, the wires need to be stripped back. Place the stripped wire against the new plug to see how much needs to be cut off. The green wire is supposed to be longer than the black and white wires so that it gets pulled out last in case the cord gets yanked out of the plug by accident. But it was almost impossible to connect all the wires with the green longer than the others so in the end I cut the green to the same length as the other two. Before proceeding, slip on the flexible grommet onto the cord. Now just insert the wires into the screw clamps and tighten them down.
On the 3-prong GFCI, the green is in the middle and the white is on the left. If you have your wires cut to the correct length, this part is really easy to do. That’s why I had to cut the green wire to the same length as the others because there’s very little space inside the plug. Now take the wire clamp and screw it to the base of the plug to secure the wires as extra safety in case the cord gets pulled.
The last step is to close up the plug with 4 screws. Be sure to use the plastic gaskets with the screws. They’ll help keep water out of the plug and functioning properly. The cover also has a rubber seal around it making this GFCI water resistant.The Oaonan replacement GFCI plugs are really inexpensive and easy to install. No need to call a repairman or throw away your equipment just because of a bad plug!
I hope you enjoyed this video and if you did please give me a thumbs up and please subscribe to my channel TheRenderQ for more how-to videos and product reviews.

I received my pressure washer kzbin.infoUgkxfQauTxLT0JLSvqkq10rD79TU4k0Vz8zP over the weekend and decided to wait for the sun to come out before firing it up. Was needed to clean the deck. Our last pressure washer broke a couple of seasons ago, and I just hadn't replaced it yet. This one had great comments, so here we are. It was easy to assemble, and the trigger wand is comfortable and easy to hold for long periods of time. The pressure washer worked great and made quick work of the "TN North side algae" that inevitably grows every year. I also washed all of the deck furniture while I was at it... it all looks great! So far I am happy with this purchase. I plan to climb the ladder to wash siding over the next couple of days, will update if I have anything else to add after that!

Thanks! Just bought a brand new in the box Karcher pressure washer at an estate sale, never out of box, but about 6 years older or older. Put it all together and soon as I plugged it in the GFCI popped, can't reset it. Called Karcher and was left on hold 15 minutes. Hung up and searched youtube and your video came up, hit your link and ordered my new GFCI, hopefully here Tuesday. I was about to give it a pitch. Thanks for your information. Perfect job

Before getting one of these, if you have security bits take apart the old one. Due to the heavy parts inside and frequent dropping since the module is at the end of a cord, it's often just a solder joint or two that are broken on the original unit. Solder it yourself if you understand what you're doing, or find a friend who can do it, it will usually be pretty basic soldering. This of course won't fix one with an actually bad part, but often it is only a broken solder joint or two and an easy fix on the original module. Not knocking this product at all, I'll likely buy one of these myself if the one I'm working on now is actually broken..

On my rug doctor I took the plug partially apart. Found 2 security screws. Removed them. But there is something stopping me from getting it apart. I can pry it open 1/4 inch but it doesn’t pop open. So I have ordered a new one. But the old one won’t win. Maybe I should get out the Dremel 🤓

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm an electronic technician, so I'll inspect mine carefully. I drew a blank when searching for a schematic. I understand how GFCI's work: If a current transformer is around the Line and Neutral connections at the same time, on a normal circuit, the current measured will be zero. If there is a ground fault, the current leaving the Line connection will not be equal to the current returning on the Neutral connection because that current is going to ground. Current between 100mA and 200mA can kill someone.

@TheRenderQ
@TheRenderQ 3 жыл бұрын
I would not suggest changing out the GFCI plug on a brand new power washer if you can still return it. I’d just exchange or return and buy a new one. I don’t know if you’re aware of this but every time I plug my power washer into an outlet I have to press the Reset button on the GFCI plug to make it work. It’s probably a safety feature. That’s one thing you can check before you return the unit.

So, we replaced our power washer GFCI plug with a new OAONAN plug and it still won't reset properly. It just clicks back when we hit the reset button and the washer won't turn on. Is there another reason why this might be happening other than that the GFCI plug need replacing? Thanks!
@TheRenderQ

Not sure if you have another issue with your power washer but is there a possibility that the wires to the Oaonan are reversed? Check to make sure nothing else is making contact with the wires or connections. I guess it's possible the Oaonan GFCI you got is faulty?
