The name is just for branding I suppose. It does have a flatter profiled plug than regular extensions do so it works well for what it's supposed to be used for which is just extension for sockets in cramped locations.

The extension cords do have holes for the purpose of affixing them. In fact, I have one mounted on my microwave cart. I mounted one on my tv stand. I might get this (or an extension cord) to mount on our headboard for easier charger access.

3M tape already attached for 3 to 10x the cost depending on what extension cord you buy. I would honestly say the bottom of the barrel $3-5 ones that have 2 outlets on one side and 1 on the other side that have a hole at the top that you could hang it on a nail would be just as functional with an extra plug but missing the USB at 1/10th the price, but lets be fair I wouldn't trust a built in USB plug on an extension cable without a surge protector anyways in which case you can get a 4-6 plug surge protector with 2 USB plugs for half the price if you need to get a surge protector anyways and seeing as the packaging said nothing about it being a surge protector I have a feeling they skimped on that to make as much profit for as little cost as possible because most people wouldn't think about that and would just assume that a USB port is a USB port. I am not saying the product is bad, I am just saying it is way way over priced for not even having any protection built into the product at all, if it was $30 for 2 plugs with 2 USB ports all behind a surge protector, then fine it would only cost double the price to look "prettier", but no protection it is probably closer to 4-5x the cost to look "prettier" which is insane markup.

Not to mention you can get surge protectors for $10-15 that come with USB ports that allow you to securely mount it to the wall with keyhole slots for wall anchors. Not to mention you get more power sockets and USB ports for less while also giving you some surge protection.

I agree with others. Just add a Command strip to an extension cord or surge protector, and “presto” you’re not paying $15 per unit. Free with Fee means they charge you shipping and handling within the Fee. The As Seen On TV places sell 2 units for $40 (20 times 2) which equates to the 33 percent average markup stores make on most products.

The illusion of getting something free sells stuff. Over price it in the first place, charge a fee for the second one, and so you move 2 items instead of one. In warehousing there is a term called turns. It speaks about the spped at which something comes in an goes out. Sometimes "velocity" is used for rapid turns. This can hepl you get financing. I'm a retired software dude. We did a lot in logistics.

That is why I love the wall boxes made of plastic. I can us ouplers to make a outlet box 4 boxes wide with a 30 amp cord and an industrial plug. Left of my first wall box is a two oulet box with an Amp meter Now I can see my load.

Seriously, I have an APC power strip that is great quality, cost me about $35, and has I think 12 outlets on it. It's big but it stays securely on my wall with 6 2-inch 3M command strips, so I'm even using it in the same fashion that this product is used. $20 for what is basically just a 2-outlet power strip is insane.

Type A is still prevalent enough that the majority of people have more type A to C cables than C to C. Imo type A ports end up often being far more convenient for charging things. Considering that that the majority of small electronics like bluetooth speakers and similar still come with either type A standard to micro or type A to C cables, it'll be quite a good amount of time before type C really takes over.

@@SkeleTonHammer well in your situation you don't even need the command strips for the surge protector as the vast majority of surge protectors come with mounting holes for a standard plastic wall anchor plus screw that would take easily 50-75 pounds of pressure with two of them or just use wood screws where a wall stud is. But of course I understand using the command strips to avoid patching up the wall when you want to remove or relocate it.

This is a gimmicky gadget. It is very expensive to have only 2 outlets. Also it falling down in a couple of days is not good, set a phone of tablet on it if it is located on Wall in a room with tile floor, gadgets will crack! I would use just a simple multi-outlet in an extension cord. In this video it would be easy to keep a regular extension cord just on top of that couch, it would be hidden behind the pillow tops and easily transferred to another wall outlet. If this outlet had a hole to be used to screw on a wall it might be a little more secure for using the top for phone ot tablet resting place for charging. I doubt I would use this extension outlet attached to wall by 3m strips even if I received it free, it looks kind of stupid when set higher on the wall. Not worth of getting at that price.

I feel like this would be great for an office space. You can use the desk to hide the wires and stick it to the side or under it, maybe even behind a monitor so you have easy access to a plug for chargers and other things. I actually mounted a surge strip in the corner under my desk to I have east access to it.

I literally do this with power strips that have 6 ft cords and usb built in, and use those exact velcro adhesive strips so i don't damage the wall unlike that built in one would. A little ingenuity would yield a superior product for cheaper or at least the same price.

I am a BIG fan of this concept! I have POTS, a medical condition that makes it difficult and sometimes even dangerous to bend down. My husband and I have already decided we want all of our outlets at about 2/3 of the way down from the ceiling. We will place them there when we build, and possibly even have them moved in this house as well. This product is a great solution to have until our outlets are moved.

Lots of places enforece the code that says outlets must be at least 3 feet above the floor. This is for child safety. Depends when your building (house) was built.

I would use the Velcro command strips so it doesn’t stick to the wall forever. I also like my Kasa power strips I bought that have more plugs and USB ports and long cords. Plus I can control them with my phone.

I hate adhesive, but renters might love it. I think the main selling point on this item for me is the USB ports. Being a tech savvy family, we had a massive power strip installed along the wall for all our electronics. Unused spots have plastic covers/inserts.

Foolish people who like to waste your money. I think fitting a plug socket yourself costs as much as this product. Yes, extension cords have mounting holes but not everyone wants to drill holes in their walls. Extension cords are light enough to stick to the walls with tape and cheaper than the presto plug

I think to relocate behind the couch plugs would be good, and then to be fair nobody is going to leave a iPad there for 2-3 days it’s meant to hold the device while is charging which is 1-2 hours and it far exceeded that.

Actually you are not being fair The Cleaner. Perhaps people are not leaving a tablet or phone on the little charging self but I think it only proves how poor the outlet really is. Just have children plugging and unplugging a tablet to this outlet multiple times, it certainly will fall down faster thsn 2 days, even with gentle pushing and pulling of cords. It WILL fall. Just get a regular extension cord.

I just bought an extension cord not terribly different than this (longer cord, more plugs) and used command strips (3, spread out) to adhere it to a wall to hold a couple of wireless doorbells. That worked well. I use command strips for many things. This looks like a convenient solution though. Thanks.

I just have an Anker power strip/surge protector that I plugged into the outlet behind our couch. I just rest the power strip on the back of the couch, on the little ledge behind the cushions. Gives me way more outlets if I need them, plus the USB connections, and it's only noticeable if you're looking for it!

I think this is best used in bathroom situations. I don't know about anyone else but if I run into an inconvenient wall outlet situation, it's almost always in a bathroom. Adhesive and moisture don't mix, so I wouldn't waste my money but gosh I wish this concept would come out so people could actually screw the thing to the wall instead. Great review!

Check your local codes! Often there are regulations about how close an outlet can be to wet areas. Even GFCI outlets. Have soebody who is qualified test the safety at you end on the extension.

Hi James. I have seen a lot of 3 prong outlets in the US installed with the ground contact on top. Electricians I have asked about it say it is safer that way as when the outlet is low on the wall the ground lead woud be encountered first. Probably a minor fee to have a local eletrician come and turn an outlet over.

I have had to get a bunch of power strips for just this reason. Outlets are always behind something too heavy to move, etc. My family says "You are in a wheelchair. You don't need to plug stuff in." My replay, "It's my feet that are missing. Not my brain." Diabeties sucks. It rots the brain of folks around you.

This article is now available in germany and it has some.differences. the cable is thick. It can work up until 3680 watts. And the plug is also thick and not sideways. Like a standard plug. Wonder ifts because of the strict laws here.... ? .. youre channel is one of my favourite ones to watch 😊

First off great video. Always love the honest reviews. I'm from New York but recently moved to vegas about 3 years ago. The thing I noticed is the walls in Vegas (which I assume is where you are) is that they're textured so things tend to not stick as well. Where as in ny the walls are very smooth or even covered in wallpaper which those plugs would stick so well on. Either way I think the product is almost gag worthy besides very specific needs. There's always extension cords.

It is unsafe to promote adding a full 15 amp set of outlets from a sketch outlet extender. The fact is you never know if the wattage drawn from these extensions will exceed what the breaker is designed for. Without advertising a gauge that is capable of this likely could result in outlets melting or worse.

I bought one like it for travel. Turns one plug by bed in hotel/airport into 2 plus 2 usb chargers. Mine was like 20 bucks. Worth it for me. For my parents house I bought a plug that goes into outlets with no cord and has 2 plugs and 2 usb plugs. Turns the one outlet by the couch into 2 and lets them both charge their phones with fast charging. Pretty good for 12 bucks.

You should upgrade to Tripp Lite or Anker portable surge protectors. I own the Tripp Lite one. You get 3 AC sockets and USB ports. Anker is a good idea as well with some quick charging options over USB for your phones. Not to mention both of those have lifetime connected device insurances that activate when you register them in the case when they don't protect your devices you can get paid out for the value of your devices.

IMO, this is good and compact Outlet extension for hard to get to behind bed Outlet, you could just lay directly on the bed and charge his and her phone overnight, not being big and bulky like a multi plug surge protector. I like it.

I found short extension cords with flat swiveling plugs. They were a set of three and they’re cheap. Went to order another set and I only got one for the same price as the three. Returned. They were perfect for accessing outlets behind heavy furniture.

Excellent idea for elderly, people like myself with mobility and balance difficulties it brings outlet up to a better height reduces fall risk. As this is not being made for disability market it is, a more reasonable price. I can guarantee if someone did similiar product marketed as Elderly/Disabled folk save money getting outlets moved use this it will help reduce falls etc it would be priced 3 to 5 times, as high.

I use a similar type device. Mine has a longer cord, but no sticky adhesive. I‘ve used it for years to allow me to use the plug that is beneath my bed that would otherwise be useless. I just leave mine on the floor against the wall. The cord length might be 6 feet long. I bought it in Walmart years ago for roughly $20.

It's basically just the next step in extension cords, plug it in and the other end goes where you want it and powers something. All they have really done is stick and extension cord on the wall with adhesive. That doesn't make it a bad idea though, but they need a better mount than weak or wall damaging adhesive. I have an outlet dead center behind a couch I never use, I would buy one of these if it had a longer cord that say stowed excess away in the back.

Tried something like Blu-Tack. I have seen folks use this tuff to stiick a spinning hard drive into a computer case. I bought a bunch of that suff. They have to repaint every apartment wihen somebody moves out. No holes in walls so screw the paint.

The sole gimmick of this power cord is that you can attach it to the wall with an adhesive back. However the lack of option in attaching to the wall such as screw mounting makes the thing just another extension cord at a higher cost.

I could totally see using this in a kitchen for those certain appliances with short cords and just not mounting it maybe.

I purchased a couple of these and I have two complaints. My first one is the plug for the outlet. It should have had one of those rotating plugs instead of their non-rotatable ones. My second one is I discovered the hard way. The next day after installing the outlet relocator, I plugged my vacuum cleaner into it and it worked for maybe 2 seconds before the thing blew and now I can’t use it. Apparently, you shouldn’t plug anything like vacuum cleaners into it.

This is more up your alley. However, like others have noted, you can get a surge protector for around $10 from Wal-Mart or Target. Command strips can hold a decent amount of weight and are more easily removable, especially if you get the velcro strips. Not only that, a surge protector is better for plugging in expensive electronics such as any Apple product. I'm not sure what Presto is trying to accomplish with this. Also, that "separate fee" for the free outlet is supposedly for shipping, but is really just to cheat people out of money.

The reason the plug is facing like that on the packaging, is because the ground aka the third hole is suppose to be at the top, so if something hits the outlet the grounding feature will work. just an fyi ^^

It’s not a terrible idea, but it’s essentially a stylish power strip with USB ports. I imagine there’s no surge protector either.

It's an extension chord with some 3M double sided tape on it. Your adhesive test was a test of the 3M tape, not the extension chord/power strip. Seems a bit pricey to me. I mean, we've been screwing power strips to the wall for decades. More outlets on them.

I bought my daughter one for Christmas last yr she loves it. But that brand but similar it has 6 or 10ft cord on it. I'm thinking 6ft. But her plug behind bed hard to reach she loves she can charge phone and have place to put it her laptop watch all on same outlet. I went to get a couple more but can't find them anymore. 😕 also it didn't have the adhesive on back it came separately and had screws so could use either. She's used the command strips on it and saved the screws and adhesive for later.

Part of the problem sticking to the wall probably was the textured wall. But a bigger problem is when you put a wide adhesive patch on the back of a hollow plastic box, you can't apply even pressure to the middle of the patch. A better solution for things like this is a mounting plate that can be pressed to the wall better and then the box slides onto the plate.

It's just a fancy extension cable. They make extension cables with USB ports and like four more outlets on them for the same price.

This would be nice for like an obstructed plug behind a couch or something since it has a flat plug-in that plugs into your existing outlet and it doesn’t look much different than like a normal wall outlet so it’s better than like an extension cord that’s going to be visible and can get messy looking

This is my opinion, I guess, but a power strip/surge protector works just as good, or better. They come in all types of configurations: with/without USB plugs, different numbers of plug outlets, different shapes (double row rectangle, single row rectangle, multi-sided cubes, vertical tabletop box, etc), different cord lengths, etc etc etc. Most, depending on the shape, can be wall mounted. Screws are most often used (which actually clean up nicer than permanent adhesive- small dab of drywall putty vs redoing the wall's surface!). And the final kicker? You get surge protection AND the ability to shut the entire strip off if desired. Oh! And now they even have smart power strips, where each outlet can be turned on or off via phone, remote, or Alexa/Google voice commands. And what if you got a power strip or surge protector that just doesn't have a long enough cord? Just use an additional extension cord. They come in all colors today: orange, yellow, green, brown, black, white, beige.... I just can't justify this outlet. It really isn't much more than a 2-plug power strip with an extension cord and no surge protection. For the same price, or just a little more, you can get something way better and more practical.... that won't ruin your walls.

I would have mounted it above the couch line, but below the cushion extended area. That way you could easily reach it on the couch, but the wire and it would be out of straight on view.

...it's an extension cord/power strip. I guess it's not too expensive for two of them with the low profile feature, I think I paid $15 for two with a low profile on Amazon. They have indents in the back for mounting with screws into the wall which is the set up I have after command strips didn't do the job holding it up. It seems like screws in the wall is the way to go since the 3M adhesive they used here didn't work too well.

What is the difference between this and a normal extension cord? Here in the UK we get them looking like that from one socket to 8. Some surge protected, some with USBs some with an "in and out" TV antenna socket so to filter out interferance from Lawnmowers, 4G etc the same for a landline phone or modem as well as network cables. These range in price (currency conversion) $3 to $20. More expensive brands are available.
