This channel is a prime example why linear TV is done. Linear TV would have squeezed this whole project into a 2 x 45 min. episodes with boring editing. No way their business people could justify showing hundreds of hours of material spanning multiple years from a single project, but here we are over half a million subscribers tuning in regularly to watch new exciting content.

It’s Arthur Koestler’s paradox of true stability resting upon precariousness rather than solidity: the ultimate achievement of “high” art, though I never imagined the interpretation to be quite so literally high as Dan makes it.
@bvalt12 ай бұрын
@@bahiyyihnakhjavani3246 yes, it is incredibly fragile until it is all tied together, and every stick adds stability to the equation. I was bitten by the bug at 21, earned a degree biology, and went back to building for the shear enjoyment of actually building, (well truthfully the money doesn't suck, lol!) and rebuilding some things that will long outlive me. My laboratory is sawdust, sandpaper, sunlight, and staging and I wouldn't have it any other way!! Unless you've been 40 ft in the air, holding a 2 x 12 ridge poll on your shoulder, standing on a 10" plank, nail gun in one hand, rafter in the other, wind blowing 15-20mph, putting up the first pieces of what will be the roof, you just have no Idea the rush that is, and the total feeling of accomplishment as you are drying in another section of the house. It's special, and not a lot of us get to experience it. I know how lucky I am to still be able to do this almost 40 years later.

I've done a fair bit of restoration work over my nearly 4 decades in the trade, and one thing most people don't understand is that the structure kind of tells you what to do to it, you just have to read the signs carefully and thoughtfully, then listen to what it is telling you. And always give it a night to ponder, answers often pop in your head, around 3-4 am for me usually, lol! It Looks absolutely amazing, I wish I could come and help you, that's a really fun roof to frame, lots of compound cuts on the hips, fun stuff!!

I like your thinking there Dan, organic. Just because something may be drawn on a plan or done one way in another room doesn't necessarily mean it should be built that way in the real world. My brother, a craftsman carpenter, helped build my first home and in the process designed and built nine curved walls that weren't on the original plans. He added a double height curved ceiling with a skylight in the main bathroom along with countless small features that came about because of his organic thinking as the structure grew. Organic indeed.
