Cool idea. Most herbs will probably want more sun, but they will last for a month or two and then can be changed for a new bunch. Mint, however, will be fine, and it's nice to touch it walking by and feel the smell.

I thought the same thing. You’d have to do some research (I know absolutely nothing about what grows in Yorkshire) but could you grow something like strawberries as well? Salad greens? Even if it was only for a few months a year it would be fun for the girls. I thought the horizontal fence was beautiful when you built it, but using it to hang plants is brilliant.

For your 3D printed planters, lobelias and campanulas hold better without direct sunlight and the later is virtually indestructible, so is Cymbalaria muralis, the ivy leaved toadflax. Snowdrops, bluebells, cyclamens, lesser periwinkle and other woodland flowers, fare well in the shade, violets and wild pansies, or wild geraniums are also options, and there are sedums that tolerate or even appreciate shade and are ornamental all year long.

@@JOSEPH-vs2gc I don't remember what exactly his front grass looks like, but you can get hyper-realistic looking grass now instead of the old cheap looking turf. It even has a slight bit of brown mixed in to mimic dead grass stalks. It's expensive, but it looks just like really manicured grass until you get within a couple feet. The only downside is you can tell it is fake during winter and it gets hotter under foot than actual grass.

Hi, I've been a landscape gardener here in the UK for nearly 30 years and that was one of the best built gardens I have ever seen. Well done. Fatsia Japonica (Caster oil plants) are good for shaded spots in my experience. I too have found spraying water at plants is good for them although here in the Peak District rarely needed. The only thing I can suggest is keep an eye on the water feature water level. They evaporate water fairly quickly and most water pumps don't like to run dry. It would take a very cold spell to freeze it but still, I'd empty it for the winter.

I don't know why people dislike dandelions so much, except that they ruin the "perfect lawn" effect. They have a nice sunny yellow flower and help feed insects such as bees throughout the warm weather. Dandelions are also great because their long root helps to aerate the soil after the plant is gone. Parts of the dandelion are also edible though we generally don't make use of it.
