I review, breakdown and explain Presumed Innocent episode 1 and episode 2. I discuss the Apple TV+ show which stars Jake Gyllenhaal as Rusty Sabich as he's accused of the murder of his colleague Carolyn Polhemus. I react to the similarities between Bunny Davies, answer who sent the text message, the ending and also compare the story to the 1990's movie which starred Harrison Ford and the novel from the 1980s. I also give my theories and predictions on episode 3.

This show’s stupid. On what grounds did they obtain a search warrant? If Rusty’s paternity/DNA came back as positive then we would know why there’s a search warrant. But they take his DNA after the search warrant. The movie was much better.

I completely agree!! Loved the beginning of the show. And definitely the best scene was Raymond putting "thing one and thing two" in their place.

Excellent review, as always. This is one of my all-time favorite films and novels. Both the 1987 novel and the 1990 film are masterpieces, highly recommended.

In this version, the character of Sandy Stern (Rusty’s defense attorney) has been written out. Instead, those responsibilities have been given to Rusty’s former boss, Raymond Horgan. As Horgan alludes to himself, it’s not wholly believable that it’s the best choice to have this famed prosecutor suddenly become a great defense attorney. Still, one reason this series may have done this is to streamline the number of characters. In the movie at least, Horgan didn’t have much to do in the 2nd half. But, expecting a twist, I can’t help but think this could all be a head fake. Here, we see a Horgan so far who is more honorable than in the film. But, what if it’s all a setup? Perhaps Horgan was involved in Carolyn’s murder? And having Rusty first investigate the crime was a way to cover it up? Then when Rusty became a suspect, defending him would either ease guilt and/or be an even better way to bury Rusty? I admit it’s a lot of risk for Raymond to do so - but it’s a show, and I’ve seen riskier and more far-fetched twists before.
@klatte3351
@klatte3351 14 күн бұрын
I can only hope it’s a head fake. Sandy Stern is too good of a character to just jettison.
@nelsonying2898

I just browsed through Episode 3, and they left an Easter egg for the fans. Very minor spoiler. Raymond takes on an associate to help in Rusty’s defense, someone who used to work at Sandy Stern’s. So, Stern exists in this “universe”, but at least, according to Wikipedia and IMDb cast lists, will not show up in this version of the story.

I think it could have been his wife. Out of everyone, she has the biggest motive to do it. Think about it: she wants to save her marriage, she still loves Rusty and she’s WAY too understanding and she’s clearly not stupid. Since she forgave Rusty the first time and Rusty slept with her again just before it, I believe she found out and did it. Then she framed it in a way no one could suspect her and maybe wanted to punish Rusty too. I believe the fibers found are hers. What do you think?

Loving this show! So in your video you did not mention that Barbara knew about the affair and has obviously forgiven Rusty. IMO it’s a bit suspicious that she supposedly did not know about the affair starting up again… yeah ok. I feel there’s more to her, but I’ll leave it there. You could also perhaps think well since Tommy has such a hard on for Rusty what does he know?? But they are making it way too obvious. I’m here for all of it!!

Will the discovery of two sperm samples in Bunny’s PM, lead Rusty to ask for sperm samples from Caroline? Surely the defense would want to know if she had another lover.

Why no one is talking about sneaky body language of Carolyn with what I think was exchanging files of Bunny case. I got the feel that Carolyn was trying to screw Sabich's career the way she hid the other suspect detail, also how the convicted murderer of Bunny screamed about people fucking him over that's a very odd thing to say!

There's a movie (1990) with Harrison Ford, and I presume that the story will pretty much be the same. So, how is this even interesting? Also, this tv show is an adaptation of a novel by Scott Turow with the same name. I like the show, but knowing how it ends, well it kind takes the curiosity of it, doesn't it???

So disappointed from the first two episodes. They got rid of a big character…. the defense attorney. Instead they picked his old boss to defend him. And the actress who plays Carolyn is so miscast. She’s supposed to be a savvy smart seasoned prosecutor but this actress looks like she’s out of law school. High expectations but not met.

In the movie the wife did it, I doubt they would use the same ending after changing other parts of the story. But I do think it’s going to be someone from his family, since they would have the knowledge of case files since they are in the house. My vote is the son

The show description for episode 3 is that Rusty will learn the evidence against him. I believe they had the evidence for the warrant but we, the viewers, didn’t get to see. The focus was on the spiral and I think introducing the evidence would’ve been giving too much within the first 2 episodes.
