Loved this, it turned out very cute! Buuuutttt, there's no way article furniture is budget friendly, its just so expensive. While all your design choices are visually cool and pretty, it would be awesome if you found and showed more actually budget friendly options as that is part of your brand statement...beginning to feel kinda priced out from the earlier days. Having said that, I do enjoy your videos and what you do!

The furniture this person already had (teak style) is usually expensive to buy new. It could have been refinished for a budget friendly option. I really enjoy this channel but she has a certain aesthetic and promotes the companies that work with her. I guess I just enjoy and accept the channel for what it is.

as much as this is a DIY channel, it isn't really budget friendly - it's to her detriment to reveal the prices, because she uses expensive things from article/urban outfitters while name dropping target and IKEA for it to seem "budget friendly"

Agreed. I think if the wood wouldve been sanded down and stained it would have had an individual vibe to it and not another boho makeover. Add some new cushions and or blankets a boho vibe -still vibrant. Sure maybe the client wanted it -but now it looks just like any other Patio Alexandra did. Also how is thid barcart boho? A Rattan table wouldve been great but nobody needs so many side tables. I am a little disappointed vecause now every Video she does is just buy new furniture-"omg such a pretty vibe!". It would be more exiting and creative if she would try and bring the old furniture back to life. Everyone can buy.

@SMG actually you can mix basil in drinks! A favourite of mine is a sloe-jito (sloe berry gin mojito) and instead of mint leaves you muddle in basil leaves instead. It's sooo gooood, more herbal if you like that kind of flavour

The design and layout are great! Love the soft pink accents in the side tables, the lantern, the glassware, and the gold, pink and white pillows together. Love the cart and side tables. Would have spray painted the rug flowers pink in keeping with the theme and painted the grill with the heat resistant spray paint out there for grills. I think this deck could have been redone without new furniture altho the new furniture IS beautiful. Painted white, or pink, or green or sanded and stained, the old furniture would have come back to life. Altho they don't NEED cushions, the new furniture looks like it does. No one likes the lines left on the legs or arms after sitting on furniture like this when there are no cushions, but Amanda can add them. Maybe this is a rental, but otherwise, I'd have refreshed the sides of the deck with fresh stain or paint. The boards make it look a little worn.

Beautiful makeover, but word to the wise: do NOT put your monstera outside! The leaves of this one are already getting sunburnt and after that, they are totally destroyed and have to be cut from the plant. They burn fast so I'm guessing this once beautiful plant is already a goner. Always filtered, indirect light for your monsteras!

Brenda Florentino-Weinstein all plants are technically outdoor plants though. Her balcony is definitely not the right environment as there isn’t enough protection from the sun for delicate plants, but monstera def thrive outdoors they just need to be in the shade.

It would be cool if you would give yourself some kind of challenge- like using a colour you never would, trying a style you generally don't like, or thrifting everything. You rely pretty heavily on nice store bought items. If you have a little bit of an eye for colour and decor it's pretty easy to make a room/patio look nice with mid to high end pieces that are in fashion.

Maybe I'm crazy here but I wouldn't call this an 'EXTREME' makeover. All you've done is added new furniture and styled it. Nothing wrong with that but extreme would knocking the fence down and rebuilding it or refinishing the back wall or building a roof over the sitting area.

Next time when you're spray painting with stencils, try holding the spray paint further back (like 6-10" away). It might take longer to get the coverage you want, but the stenciled pattern might appear better.

I really liked the rug and the coffee table vase surrounded by the wood bead garland. When the bead garland was first becoming popular I noticed that all the beads were the same throughout, but now there’s variation. I made a wooden bead garland myself only I used the beads I had on hand so mine has lots of variety. Thanks for showing me the plant stand/side tables. I actually need some for my patio.

Gardening tip: remember to break up the roots when you plant something from a pot! It helps them live longer cause the roots are less likely to bunch up over time

Hello, Alexandra, been watching alot of your videos and have enjoyed them, I'm a big HGTV fan. I especially like watching about storage in a small space, and you seem to excel with that. But that, sadly, is not why I'm commenting. Years ago, I was a young, carefree career girl like so many of you, living in a number of career girl apartments just like I see in your videos (not in NYC or Toronto, a city farther south). I was happily getting up and going to work, coming home, and hanging out with my friends. It was a great time, there is nothing like being young and carefree. Unfortunately, the unthinkable happened (one night). Keep in mind, this was years before the internet and things like facebook even existed. It was apparent from a number of clues that I had been being watched, for a time. Luckily, I was not killed, or maimed, or really hurt (beyond the scope of the "assault"). I consider myself "lucky". But enough about me. The reason I am even leaving this comment is because as I have watched a number of these videos (and not all of them are yours) it is apparent to me that certain scenes filmed (outside and thru windows) give a clue about where these apartments may be, and anyone familiar with your city or someone else's might be able to place them. I wouldn't want some sicko watching them and thinking, " oh, she's cute, I know where that apartment is"....I hope you're not upset with me but I felt like I had to say this, no young, pretty, happy girl should ever have to go through what I did. And I really do enjoy your videos. Here's Debbie Downer signing off...

Your makeovers are sooo good! You did an amazing job! This one is right up your alley in terms of your aesthetic and style. I love the flower print on the rug & all the rattan! Article has such beautiful furniture but the prices are pretty steep I find, it's nice that they can gift the items for the makeover. I was hoping to see the gorgeous view at night and the patio all lit up! That's my favourite kind of view! I don't think you guys got a clip of it at night. Well: it is not an extreme makeover! Just put in some new (expensive) furniture. Why not use those they had? Paint them or whatever. The carpet? Why ruin the carpet with these badly executed stencils??? Why always those cushions!? The are only decorative, but not very useful... Then replace dead plants with even more dead (looking) plants? All in all nothing special. The owners could have done it the themselves. Sorry, not loving the channel anymore. Too many sponsors... And in the end it's always the favourite makeover... All in all it's ok, but nothing to get me excited!

I really agree about the seating. There is less seating then there was before. It would have made so much more sense to ideally sand and re-stain (or at least paint) what they had. It had really good bones and didn't need to be replaced. Also so much of that was under-scaled to the space (budget I assume). I love Article furniture but this was just wasteful.

I found your channel during quarantine + you inspired me to do a peel-and-stick backsplash, paint a wall, and change my kitchen hardware! But have to agree with fellow commenters... the Article partnership is getting old + it's just not a brand I can afford or I feel like makes sense with your rental/budget-friendly vibe that I originally subscribed for. That Veuve Clicquot Brut Rosé Champagne is $65 a bottle, I'm surprised to see that in one of Alexandra's videos as it's quite bougie. It's my all time favorite champagne, they serve it to you at the Peninsula Hotel before afternoon tea. I always buy some for my birthday.
