Pretty Boy is SO REAL. This boy is utterly gorgeous. Not just his face. His innocent smile. His gentle demeanour. His beautiful soul. I absolutely adore Sean. And the actor did a good job playing him too. But HATS OFF HATS OFF to Katie. LOVE HER. She stole the mfing show. She's so strong, fierce, independent, supportive, kind and knows her freaking worth. The thing I loved about this short film was that it felt extremely genuine and real. The acting was believable and it was really easy to connect with the characters on an intimate level. I love how we not only got to see the story of 'Pretty Boy' coming to accept himself and finally open up about his sexuality, but also, we were able to see the prostitute's story. I think it really encourages us as a society to stop passing judgment on prostitutes and hookers. If prostitution really concerns you, try to understand why these people are entering the industry first, rather than simply passing judgment on their sexual lives. Often female sex workers are dehumanized and seen merely as "objects", but this film had a really genuine and human representation which was refreshing and interesting to see. Coming to understand her own personal struggles with raising her son and dealing with her seemingly unaccepting family brought a level of understanding and empathy for the situation that I am sure many sex workers unfortunately find themselves in. I also loved how there was a lot of complex emotion expressed, but not in an over-the-top way (neither glorified nor overly tragic), which was refreshing for a LGBT film too. Often LGBT films are merely about sexual relationships or have very tragic endings, but this film took a different angle, which I appreciated. The ending provided me with a sense of hope and warmed my heart, but also in the back of my mind, I'm feeling concerned for him in case his father does not accept him (even though I know it is only a film!) Great job with this film. It was well-constructed and had a really genuine and unique plot line. Well done!

I love this story, because it shows that you should not only accept your kids for who they are, but the main thing is that you should never judge a book by its cover. People look at Katie and they think “slut” or “whore” But she was doing it for no other reason to help provide for her son, who she can’t even see anymore. She’s an incredible person who was willing to take time out of her day to give a boy a proper birthday, and to help him out.

Even though times have changed and being gay is more accepted, it is each individual’s journey towards the freedom of being authentic and loving who we want to that matters. We each have to find our way there. Whether in high school or in our sixties, it is our way, in our time, that we get there. Bless you for making this film and putting it out there for all of us.

Hı, im Turkish. And i loved this film so much. Homofobia is very widespread in Turkey. İ have a bisexual friend. And people are thinking is so weird. First i was thinking this way but she s so lovely. İ change my mind. İ hope homofobia is ends in short time.

Cemal Gedik proud of you for this and for sharing. you've got to get more of the people to be accepting as well. because the world is already so full of pain. Tell them, Why create more pain for reasons that don't matter at all? It's like this: I love blueberry muffins. You love pumpkin muffins. So what? You're not making me eat pumpkin muffins too, so why do i care if you want pumpkin muffins? Please, have ALL the pumpkin muffins you want and I'll have blueberry muffins. I don't need to make you eat my blueberry muffins It's really that simple

I also grew up in a small town and got beat on a few times, never felt safe to be my true self, as I got older I started dressing as my other persona and then I went back into the closet, I made a short film of my story on my channel and I incorporated it into a positive celebration of all things fabulous, LGBT 🏳️🌈 + community are strong and forever powerful, enjoy my movie if you take a look. God bless 💕🦋💕

4 or 5 years ago I was obsessed with LGBT Short Films. I don't know how I've never stumbled across 'Pretty Boy' but now it sure is one of my favorites. I really like the in-depth characters of Sean and Katie, especially Katie. We don't even get to know what is happening in her life and still, she has a more developed personality than the main characters of some big TV shows. I've never would've imagined that a woman would be my favorite character in a gay film but Katie did it.
