Pretty Cure Miracle Leap Film Review

Wow, after so many years, we finally have a Precure Cross Over film aka an All Stars Precure Movie that is actually good. FYI, I really like Groundhog Day stories, as I like to see a story that repeats itself with some minor changes and watching the characters realizing that they are in a time loop, and tried to solve the mystery and their problems in pretty entertaining. Another time loop movie I can think of, 12:01.... Don't ask me how I remember this film, but it is still suck in my head. The action scenes are really great, and even if there are some that are not great, I can still forgive them due to the pandemic. I also love how the Miracle Lights are used effectively and not too overbearing in this movie, plus there is no cringy 4th wall breaking, thank god. Overall the story is pretty good, if not, entertaining. The interactions between the teams are also nice and I hope this will keep up for the next All Stars film. P.S. I agree, the ending to the anime Magikano is easily the worst, I really don't like shows that ends with a time reset. The only exception is Mighty Max, and that is because Max remembers everything, so he knows how to avoid going to the same ending. Thankfully, the manga version of Magikano follows a totally different route, and it is a lot better for it. P.P.S. I am so looking forward for your take on the Heisei Precure vs Showa Riders Doujin review. I also read other doujins by the same author, and while I can't read Japanese, the story are very interesting. I especially like the Doki Doki X Decade Doujin.

Yeah, time reset endings are a real drag because it makes everything that happens pointless. I think Futurama is the only one the pulled it off properly. Overall, this is definitely one of the better All Stars films. Not perfect but I take this over Miracle Universe any day.

Yesss! Finally a review of this movie!! I’ll have to admit, this is one of the better movies after the atrocity of Miracle Universe. Miracle Leap was an enjoyable movie, I kinda wish there was more development in some parts of the plot and more interactions with the characters with the other teams.

This film was ok at best the writing and story could have used more work especially on character development for Chiyu and Hinata, the later half fighting scenes were definitely its saving grace though I did wish we could get more epic fight scenes between all the other precure not just Grace since they all ready cut the cast drastically with only including the three most current precure teams

For a Spring movie, I rate it as my fav 5 in rank 4 along with Clover movie maybe even better since this is better in production and it have Hana and Nodoka in the same screen doing stuff. Damn, I miss Hana. The movie is simple and streamlined but it is good in its simplicity and it kinda fits the purpose of Spring movies that is a baton pass between generation so rather than making it too complicated, just giving a reason to fight together is fine already. Heck, the only downside is only the lack of interraction between the non-pink Cures albeit it is somewhat granted since it is supposed to air back in March when we only get less than 10 episode for the new series so the writer still don't know how to steer the non-Pink Cures. The villain has silly motivation but after seeing Conan movies with its rainbow-colored motivation, Refrain actually have a normal motivation and hey at least it is better than lack of one. Yes, I'm pointing at you Miracle Universe Birdies! I hope they gain many positive feedback from this and keep the simple formula and not thinking too much about stuff. Come to think of it, how would Tropical Rouge fill the Spring movie slot? Could it be they decided to just erase the Spring slot altogether for Tropical and only resume it for the next year team? Doesn't this meant that STP team graduate with this movie along with Hugtto (not that I complain)?

OH HEEEEEELL YEAH >:) You FINALLY reviewing Miracle Leap, the long awaited special for the Healin Good team (excluding Earth). Thanks you-know-what for stalling it up... =^= If i have to sum up this special, itll be 3 words: MAKE GRACE SUFFER!! XD No seriously, thats the best way to describe this special. Its groundhog day, but adding Grace being the punching bag. Its the price to pay for having those awesome fight scenes. It's also a huge plus for her character growth as well though [then again, she's voiced by Aoi Yuuki: any characters she voiced will suffer since they're the most OP (Hibiki and Madoka. Exculding Clementine cause she honestly deserved it)]. Even the vets (both Hana and Hikaru) has some both nice moments and words of advice to the upcoming rookie, the latter surprised me [guess this one's the movie Hikaru, not the series Hikaru]. Its nice. The downside for having so much focus for the pinks is that the rest got shafted, lacking any interactions with each other...especially the new rookies Fontaine and Sparkle. Like bruh! I noticed it from the fight scenes. they don't care for any of them. they care for the punching bag. At the very least, she got the redemption she deserves in the end (though personally, i like ALL of the rookies get the power up, not Grace. then again, its technically HER story soooo...eh) ^^;; The movie characters are...eh. Not that bad, not that great either. Both suffered the cases of "Show don't Tell" in terms of their motives for me. They explained about who they are and why one is chasing after the other but never show anything about it, like flashbacks of sorts. Mira is fine, though didn't do much. at least she's not an a-hole like that stupid chick from the previous one...; Refrain? badass in skills; motives? eh? He's like Miden: a ghost type...but this time he's a time user and a spirit of the school. I understand his reasons but...unlike Miden, i just don't feel much sympathy. However, as i stated again, they're better than those stupid birds... =^= Overall, among all the 3-team specials post MTP, this is the "best" one. Its flawed yes but after all that, it seeks redemption. Second being Dream Stars (cause Sakura and Shizuku). Both Super Stars and Miracle Universe are the worst ones of all for me

For me, this movie is one of the better movies, though I prefer DX3 and Dream Stars. The movie characters are not great, but not bad either. Better than the ones from Miracle Universe. Kind of wish we got more character interactions from the non-pink cures though, but this is a pink cure focused movie, so I guess I forgive the creators for that, I guess. And two of the pinks were the better pink leads. The Animation was really good. I also like the fact that even Hikaru got a good moment here. Overall, I really love the movie. Not the best but way better than the crossover movie we saw two years ago.

I’m honestly don’t have any personal favorites (cause most are fine…with few exceptions), but I do have my least favorite: Haru no Carnival. Post MTP with the 3-team plan, Dream Stars is fine. Super Stars made me mad…Miracle Universe is even worse than that. It’s a relief this one redeemed itself...in exchange for limited screen time to some who are not pink and the new leader being the “Hit Me” target ^^;

The plot for this film was lacking a lot, but honestly I'm okay with that. The film was a fun ride, the animation was nice, and the fight scenes were super good. The humor with the healing animals in the first scene was charming as well. I'm pretty okay with how they didn't show more team interactions, I've always preferred stories focusing on one-two characters rather than to try and spread the butter way to thin. Similar to Star Twinkle's solo movie, despite Star Twinkle being... (a really bad season) it's solo movie was really good because of how it chose to focus on Lala and Hikaru. Cure Grace going all Super Saiyan was VERY HYPE, not to mention how pretty she was. Her final move being called "Time Liberation" was so raw as well. Throughout the entire movie I couldn't stop snickering about how "Madoka's going to save another time loop"

I must say, the application and agency of the Miracle Lights in this movie is my favourite. It’s not an in-your-face kind of way where the mascots turns to the audience to cheer the PreCure on while screaming their lungs out. The reason why I like this cause the lights are well-tied into the plot without taking away the focus from the story and characters *COUGH COUGH MIRACLE UNIVERSE* Star Twinkle’s movie did a good job of the inclusion of the Miracle Lights where it weaves into the plot organically but Miracle Leap exceeded in my opinion. Plus, Miraculun’s light is possibly my least favourite design. It’s cute but not cute enough, my favourite design would have to be the one in Dream Stars with a bunny design. I don’t have a Miracle Light but I want the Dream Stars one. Edit: The bit with Nyatoran and Rabirin waving the lights to get Pegitan’s attention was a bit cheesy and meta in my opinion but it’s not too bad

This was a really great movie! My favorite part was definitely the final battle between Super Grace and Refrain. From her beautiful costume, to the fight, to her "Take care" at the end. It gave me goosebumps!

YESSS I was FINALLY waiting to give my thoughts about this and to see your review!~ Spoilers: This is one of my favorite Precure Crossover Movies since DX3. It's not perfect, but what it does bring to the table more than makes up for it's flaws. Let's talk about the bad before I get into the good because there's not much. The bad: *Because this is a crossover movie that focuses primarily on Nodoka, the other cures kind of get shafted.* They get good moments mind you, but it doesn't change the fact that Healin Good was robbed of its own movie and really REALLY should've gotten it's own time in the spotlight. I'm really upset that we didn't get a solo movie because all of this development could've been centered on the team that most people are currently with instead of needing to share that time with other cures. It's a lose lose situation because of people don't like this team, they aren't going to like Nodoka being the center of attention and if they do, they're going to have to sit through a film with other past cures who already got their time in the spotlight. It's really not fair to either party and while I understand why they might do this from a financial perspective, I wouldn't be surprised if people were not a fan of this and I can't blame them *Refrain and Mirakurun needed more time with each other. Mirakurun's conflict is too reliant on being a deus ex machina despite really liking them. As thematic villain Refrain works fine and dandy, but they're still very underdeveloped for what we get. Don't get me wrong, at this in this case the villain actually poses a threat when they need to be, but they also benefit from being more interesting and that's what these two characters really needed. *While I'm not against Grace transforming solo in this movie (if anything it thematically shows the torch being passed to the newest generation of cures) I will still admit that all of cures at least deserve some spotlight. The reason I'm not harping on it here as much is because the other cures willingly gave the opportunity to Grace AND held off Refrain so she could get her chance to strike. Much better than sitting around doing nothing. The good: There's a LOT of good stuff here! The animation! The animation is fantastic. A step up from previous movies and not only that, has really subtle parts that help showcase the characters going through a timeloop. I could gush so much about it, but you can see it for yourself. The characters are still really fun! All of the Pink Leads get really good moments with the new team. Even Hikaru gets a great shine in the spotlight moment I didn't expect. If anything while it's nothing to write home about, I appreciate the character interactions regardless. The story while not the most interesting has something other Crossover movies lacked previously, and that's focus. The themes of the past , present, and future are showcased surprisingly well and while it's sometimes too subtle for my liking, when it's pulled off well, it works really well! Nodoka. I could gush how this movie really gives some nice insight to her character, but I'd be here all day. I'm really going to miss her. That's all I'm going to say for the longrun. Her role in this movie cements that. The miracle lights..ACTUALLY have a purpose and while it's still a glorified gimmick, at the very least, the character who's a part of it, is very VERY likable. Not only that, it thematically makes sense for this movie. All Stars issue was that the Miracle Lights were used the best and worst in that regards, but here it's more middle ground. It's not shoved in your face, but it's also used as an actual plot point. I'll give credit where it's due considering other cases of it's usage have been handled way worse than what we've seen here. (Minus that 6 minute opening with the fairies, that was just a waste of time). Overall, is Miracle Leap the best Precure Movie in the world? No, but it's a really fun one. After the slog that Miracle Universe was, I'm so happy to get a thrilling experience again not just with some nice writing moments, but and overall fun idea executed alright. Despite my grievances with the movie, the positives definitely outweigh the negatives for me, personally.

This is a great All Star movie. I’m surprised at how much I liked it! The use of past characters was done competently and the story, while just okay, at least didn’t have any of the problems most stories with time traveling are plagued with. As many other people have mentioned, this is a huge improvement over Miracle Universe and I really enjoyed it but I wish we get more interaction and spotlight among the Cures, mainly the non-pink ones since they are abit shafted here. (Granted, two of the pinks here are the good ones this time) But hey, at least the action is much better and the plot is more coherent. Great review and I can’t wait for the Go! Princess review and more Toei Trinity stuff! Thanks to the first video of the latter, I’m super interested in the other two properties now.

I'm actually surprised that you referenced Kamen Rider Yongou. That special was bittersweet in a sense because of how they seem to hint how Faiz ended(thankfully Zi-O gave them a happier ending even if semi-canon). That being said, the film is good for what it is and it tried not to pack too much unnecessary baggage that plagued the previous film. I'm also excited for that doujin review!

How were they sure the miracle light only had enough power for 6 of them to remember? There were 3 lights and three teams, Miraclun never even explained how they fully work.

Miraclun only made three lights. The only ones that remembered were the HG trio. They had to convince the rest of the cures to go along because they didn't know what was happening up until that point. The power of the lights according to the movie does bring your previous memories into the next timeloop. How? While they don't go into the nitty-gritty of it, it most likely has to deal with Miraclun's future powers. The event of the timeloop technically already happened in the future and considering this wasn't the first timeloop (at least the ones they remember) they most likely didn't get the lights during those other 98 times or more than likely, they were possibly destroyed to prevent them from remembering. Each light was reserved for each cure of the HG trio at the time (most likely intentional from a story-telling position). Miraclun mentioned (in admittedly a deus ex machina moment) that she can't really make anymore than a few at a time mainly because she already spent too much of her power running from Refrain. So she really couldn't make any more for plot related reasons. Considering the Miracle Lights are a gimmick, I wouldn't expect them to go fully into it (it's just a toy to sell to kids and they've never really explained how the lights work in each incantation, thus I don't like them compared to other ones). I don't blame you for being confused.

From what we know Latte just goes along with things (they can't communicate without the Doctor tool so they never really talk throughout the movie to confirm whats going on). Since Earth is not in this movie and this was made before her initial appearance, Latte was most likely sidelined due to this. It's honestly not as important for her as she's not a major part of this film. The other Healin Animals canonically don't remember the other timeloops until Miraclun introduces themselves. We can speculate this because the Healin Animal themselves question what happened at the park when Miraclun isn't there. Considering this isn't the first time loop but one in which they do encounter Miraclun AND get the lights, it wasn't until they meet Miraclun that they begin to remember. I suspect this as Nodoka and the Healin Animals are just as clueless in the first time loop despite the Miracle Lights being a thing. Most likely Miraclun has to appear in the timeline for them to remember IF the lights are not waved in the last timeloop before the reset. For the last time loop, Nodoka basically explains to the others what they're going to do and the fairies mostly go along with it, even if they don't get it 100%. Tl;dr time travel shenanigans

Even the villain is on a whole another scale they have to bring him back (sorta) as the final boss of Smile. Closely behind DX3 is All Stars Memories and Miraculous Magic.

While this cross over movie definitely felt more focused and was better than I was expecting it cause by god I still feel like mahou tsukais cross over in trying to be a musical without understanding how musicals are supposed to work still one of the worst ones in my opinion, but anyway I liked it fine I just don't feel like toei despite the extra time they got cause of the pandemic gave the story enough focus to pass in my opinion. Yeah it's great that grace got focus but at the same time I can't agree that's a fair sacrifice. While yeah hugtto and... star twinkle are veterans here, they are still kids so them making mistakes with healing good wouldn't be bad since it's not like they onow everything or every type of villain that exists since part of what makes kamen rider and sentai cross overs work is yes there's seniority and experience but that doesn't mean they're automatically the best prepared in what's happening. I do agree the time loop stuff was passable just not great compared to others who have done it better. I do honestly hope they do away with these miracle lights cause while it's fine to have theatre toy gimmick for the kids, I do feel like the wall breaking talks down to kids like they can't handle a little tension or emotional distress in a story. Animation was fine. Not the best of 2020 cause ufotable had 2 films that blew toei put of the park and yeah I am counting one piece in toeis line up which kind of contributes which get a a budget priority in the films and hell even sailor moon eternal looks to be getting a better budget too but we'll if the spring movie foes better as I am excited to see nozomi/cure dream getting some focus in the movie. So this movie isn't bad but I can't really see it as the best cross over movie to date as I kind of have others I would put above this one. I think if the spring film can do what I hope it can do by lowering it down to just 2 teams crossing over maybe it'll be a sign of better stories in precure cross over films and lastly yeah I don't have anything that can explain why the hugutto team had such a hard time believing in time looks when they literally dealt with time travel for their season!!! Whose idea was it to do that? There's jokes for a movie but there's also consistency. Come on toei, you promote one piece every day for the last... Jesus 20 plus years the least you can do right is understand consistency! Anywho I look forward to your go princess precure review... Although you might wanna wear a bullet proof vest cause my right hand has been cursed to defend princess precure from criticisms that are either bad or don't have proper explanations as to why they're bad. I'm a bit sad that Fontaine and Sparkle didn't get new forms in this movie. Yeah i know that every Pink cure got one in their solo movie BUT this was a mini-crssover movie about the entire team. It would make sense if the Healing team got one. That's a bit dissapointing :S This movie is ok to me. I didn't really like the time travel thing but the action was cool, the villain has a logic motivation and the animation is pretty. It,s definitely better than Miracle universe but i prefer Deluxe 2 or New stage 3. It was awesome to saw the villains separated the Cures into differents team and saw the girls finding new ways to defeat them; i adore this part :D The villain's plan in NS 3 was really creepy. If the girls sleeps for ever, they will eventually DIE cause you can't survive without food and water. They got saved by the Happyness charge team luckily!

I feel like I’m the only one here who hated this movie... Maybe Precure movies are not for me? I’ve only seen a few and the only one I *mildly* enjoyed was the Futari wa x Hugtto Miracle Memories one... Idk, for some reason the Precure movies feel extra-childish and vapid... I know Precure is for younger audiences, don’t get me wrong, but I can at least get something (or, in some cases, a *lot* of things) from the TV-shows. This one was just plain boring, with anyone not named Nodoka/Cure Grace not mattering at all, a boring villain with laughable motivation, the plotdev- I mean, *Mirakurun* being a non identity we’re meant to care about because... urrr... she cute? And horribly off-model characters, with lackluster animation for a theatrical release apart from the fight scenes. Once again, just a few: I’ve seen (in no particular order) the Haru no Carnival one, the Dream Stars and Super Stars one, the All Stars Memories one, and I think that’s it? I was planning on trying out the Star Twinkle solo movie, since that’s apparently one of the better ones. Maybe the Heartcatch one too.

@@etherealsky7078 Ooooo.....yeah. No wonder you have low opinions on Precure movies. I think you should take a look at some of the solo films. Smile’s movie is an absolute favorite of mine. I highly recommend it. I also recommend Star Twinkle, Maho Girls, and Heartcatch’s in terms of solo movies. For the All Stars ones, try DX1, DX3, and the Maho one. Hopefully, you have a more uplifting view on the Precure movies.

@@nintendolife25 Thanks for the recommendations! I’ll check out the solo movies, and hopefully I like them better! ^^ I think I’ll hold off on the crossovers though, I’m just... not really a crossover person in general... Which might be why I wasn’t a fan of the movies I watched! 😂
