The drummer Lemar Carter, drum+stick manufacturer, microphone manufacturer, recording engineer Caleb Parker and his assistant Peter Hanaman deserve a price for the mix of that snare drum!

I Agree!
@jakubgiernatowski2885 Жыл бұрын
@@wavemechanic4280 there are so many instruments, overdubs and vocals, and so much possible bleed, that I'm sure Caleb had known what he's doing very well. Keeps the drums tight, reduces phase issues, sets the kit in focus, leaves a lot of room in the mix
@wavemechanic4280 Жыл бұрын
@@jakubgiernatowski2885 skilled engineers have been miking drum kits in stereo without phase issues for 50 years. This is either following ideology for the sake of it, without regard for achieving the best possible result, or just poor judgement.

Awesome groove and perfect execution of everyone there. The two keyboards blend really well, the guitar is wisely restrained and filling in the gaps tastefully, the drummer and bass generate a super solid groove, and the vocals are brilliant. Not a single dull moment in the whole song. Made my day!!

this song is so so so good. it came up on my discover weekly on Spotify & I immediately came here. Im a huge DRH fan. His voice sounds a bit autotuned here, but also, I 100% believe he is that accurate with his tone. Such a hidden treasure in the music biz.

Bobbie - I think this IS what SP / DRH have been doing - I believe that this and Kerosene are both DRH songs, as interpreted by the SP gang. And given that it's sean hurley playing bass on both of them it leads me to the same place I think you're going . . . .how long until John Mayer shows up here? I've seen him play with numerous other people - incliuding sitting in with DRH inone of his shows, and he's so happy to be there as a player on the side as opposed to the cneter of attention . . . . Anyway, here's to seeing something like this happen someday . . . . mind = blowing (hint hint to the SP crew who I know lurk on these message boards . . . )

@@bobbiemorrone It's all good my man. Let's start a conversation here about what JM song it ought to be. Maybe SP & JM can "pocketize" "Use Me" by Mary Spender, which was that song that she released based on the 8 bar teasers that JM hiumself was dropping on the world via the wonders of the internet . . . like a meme of a meme of a meme . . .. or something like that. And then the Toto guys can come in play with the Pockets gang. Or maybe I need to get back to work

Brilliant song. Mr. Hurley absolutely rocking it on bass as usual. The only thing is the autotune! Might be a 'creative choice' but IMO David Ryan Harris is such a capable singer and his vocal could easily go without.

While you're right he doesn't need it, this contains some of the most tasteful use of autotune I've ever heard.

Great music, but all I could think is; Dude, it must be cold in that studio.. Everyone is in coats, long sleeves, flannel, or even, in the case of the singer, wearing a leather jacket and a knitted beanie... Oh, well.. Must re-watch and try not to let my eyes and brain distract me from enjoying the music.. :)
