from the title i was expecting this to be some sorta Nine Inch Nails collab toy 😭 still, fun informative video on a toy I haven't heard of before!! new sub :]]
@PdxToycollectiveАй бұрын
Lol, the sub is appreciated! Typically my vids will have some music I like playing in the background, so as long as you like cool toys and good music you're in the right place!

First heard of him thanks to Doc.Lockdown reviews. And yea, this guy is one chunky death machine on treads. Wouldn't mind a new version of him to show up, especially as a potencial retool of CD Red Alert, or BW Megs (or non triple Changer Doubledealer).

In Canada back in, like . . . `92, I think, I won this guy in a contest hosted by a local radio station. You had to write in and give the answer asked on-air at a particular time. The answer this time was "Hockey" (I don't remember the question). I ended up winning not just Stalker, but also a Playskool garage set that came with a little dude with a jeep and various little accessories. I remember getting a letter back saying I had won; I was so bloody excited. Mom and I had to do some running around, like groceries, other errands, etc, and the 45 min wait to get that stuff might as well have been seven years. The toy was fucking cool. He had this interesting thing in his giant rocket where you could look inside and there was a picture of an autobot helicopter (whose name escapes me). I always really, really wanted the helicopter because it looked cool in the catalogues and commercials, but never found him.

@@rimjobledouche5201 Thats pretty awesome! Its always cool to hear about oldschool contests! Canada got some Euro stock back in the day in limited quantitie, by no means full retail distribution. Infamously the UK palitoy Deathstar got very limited distribution over there!

his bio definitely sounds like Soundwave, being a communication expert.

It makes sense why they chose the figure for Machine Wars Soundwave!

really good video! good review, interesting history, NIN? vinesauce? obscure transformers? this is my kind of niche video subject

Where as they may not have been available in the US, all of "European exclusives" were heavily available in Canada during the early 90s. My brother had all of them except for the 2 biggest ones.
@PdxToycollectiveАй бұрын
Canada is pretty interesting when it comes to distribution. Infamously the UK/Australian exclusive Palitoy Deathstar was distributed up North.

We got the European G1s in Canada as well, Stalker was one of my first Transformers as a kid.
I wish they’d repaint Earthrise Doubledealer as Stalker

Since you mentioned GPS, I remember a Beyblade that was made out of entirely gold plastic: Gold Uriel Wyborg. It's a pretty useless Beyblade because the whole point with the toyline itself is to let it rip and watch your Beyblades spin and hit each other. But using Gold Uriel will just be a suicide mission.
