A quick look inside my tour bus studio, in which I am working on a new Pretty Lights album. More details about the album and the documentary that's being created about the making of the album will come out soon...ish.

Seeing this 10 years into PL listening and touring is helping me as a producer. Big ups to you Big D, paving the way for a new generation of improv EDM producers/composers.

That is the first time I've heard the phrase "This is where the magic happens" that wasn't in relation to a bed. Good stuff!

YO ...dope setup! Definitely appreciate you taking the time out of your day to record this and let us all take a peek into how u get the magic poppin. one suggestion tho, you should start doing things when you do live shows. I absolutely Love your music but I know a lot of people would appreciate a little more improvisation/actually live stuff at ur shows ....or you could keep doing what you're doing and probably still make money for awhile. idk ...You'll figure it out. I Trust.

@Preteranimus yea dude. he's revolutionized electronic music and its following by the youth...just as tribe did and continues to do today. people used to criticize music that wasn't played by literal instruments, those same people are in pretty lights crowds today. he's a genius producer, killing it, and he's a big ass dude...like literally tall as shit

massive and fm8 could be used for anything really... they are great vsts (probably the best ones), but theyve been overused for dubstep and skrillex sorta stuff... i just find it nice to see people using analog gear and modulars for music thats not 70s prog rock or just ultra experimental bleepy kraut music
@Rossthecraft13 жыл бұрын
I dont understand any of that... but thats probably a good thing cause it shows you're a fucking pro.

I use Ableton and I find it flows much better. Hell, Daft Punk and quite a few other artists use it. FL Studio seems too simple and I don't really like the feel of it. :P Oh well, each to their own.

@Preteranimus Yeah you're wrong. Don't complain about substances when everyone in this world is drinking and smoking cigarettes (both of which are considerably more harmful than mdma and lsd). And this guy does a whole lot more than dubstep and samples, If you listened to any of his music you would know that. You don't even know how to spell dubstep... educate yourself (not through fox news) before you start spouting off.
@Preteranimus13 жыл бұрын
Smoking weed does not fulfill, in my opinion, the full connotation of 'drug use'. I am speaking from experience when I refer to hipsters as drugged out and brain dead. Forgive me for generalizing with that label and also for not knowing the techical terminology of this convoluted eletronic music culture (or absence of culture, if you like).
@Preteranimus13 жыл бұрын
I get the feeling, and maybe I am wrong, that this guy spends more of his time busting his ass compiling samples and making insanely dope dub step on his computer, all the while on tour clocking g's on his paycheck, than living the make-believe drug-obsessed hipster rave lifestyle that plagues this country's brain dead youth. Maybe I am too harsh. What say you? This guy's clearly a businessman with some heavy tech skills. Don't let the image fool you into thinking otherwise, kids.
