Well, this is IT! This is the holy grail of studios for me. I've been a Butch fan forever and have only seen glimpses of his new(ish) space in Nashville. Andrew, you did a fantastic job as always with this one! You should start a new series with Butch, just talking about recording and producing. That would be amazing, he's a national treasure!

This truly IS the most epic home studio! Nothing about it says home studio by the way,- just a beautiful and epic studio,- the amount of wood, the rustic converted barn look of the rooms, the open space in which to breathe, the hybrid setup including the old school analog console, even the loft would make a fantastic studio B - everything just reeks of a man living the dream. Lucky guy.

What an inspiring place to work at. So many stories attached to all that accumulated gear, there’s a big chunk of recent music history present there. The overall vibe that comes across is light and down-to-earth, and that is because Butch himself is easy going and down-to-earth, a guy you can dig instantly. Thanks for sharing, Andrew! Thanks for the tour, Butch! You built and developed a dream place based on your engineering know-how and work experience!

...What an awesome space... 7:52... Dating my self - but I bought the 1st Kiss Alive LP when It came out!... In fact Andrew... My 1st "Real" Drum set, around that time - was the exact same kit that Peter Criss is playing on the cover of that LP... Pearl Fiberglass, All concert toms (1 headed), Silver Satin... Same Kit - Same Color - Same amount and sizes of drums.... I was soooo cool in High School with that drum kit! (Traded them in for a custom Gretsch Kit around 1979, after hauling that kit around to many gigs... Then I was the coolest drummer at Berklee!!)...

I'm so jealous. What a wonderful studio. I've put this video it in a playlist called "When I win the Lotto" 🙂I started playing guitar less than 2 years ago. Started writing and recording in my 9ft by 9ft box room in the garage at the beginning of this year. I'm in my 50's and wish I'd found this calling decades ago. My dream is to own a studio like this and collaborate with other musicians instead of sitting in this tiny room on my own. Great album btw, I love it. Thank you.

GREAT interview! Love your studio dude. Like yourself I'm a vibe man, and have done some of my best work in the most unlikely of places: florida rooms, offices, Sunday school rooms, you name it. Vibe to me is everything because atmosphere contributes to mood -- which affects feel. To me that's most important. There's nothing worse than being inundated with craploads of gear in a dead environment. Sound needs to breathe. I run most everything through my 4 UA 1176's into an analog Studiomaster console onto DAW. (I am amazed at how fat the English Studiomaster sounds! Even without using any EQ!) I will mix my stems at a mothership studio to fine tune everything. But like yourself, I like to keep it simple so I can spend more time on the musical side of things. That's the real joy of it, to me. Thank you gentlemen for an insightful and learning experience.

Great interview...It was great to hear that even though you had some losses, you forged ahead. It taught you and others, that life and things are only around while they are,not when we want them to be. I also loved the fact you said this digital/analog debate is a scam, fake, and just another separatist distraction. I remember people asking me which mic I used for making samples, since I spin records as well, and after guessing all these expensive Mics, I told them, it was one of the mics that came with my Sanyo boom box. I also recall seeing people get upset when I tell that their $5,,555,555 dollar room treatments are bogus, along with their $55,555 interconnect cables..

Never heard of Butch Walker til I watched the Epic Home Studio video while cruising The Tube for inspirational content and I must say THIS VIDEO prompted me to listen to the album! I feel like a kid again in the 1970's the first time I heard Earth Wind & Fire...an unexpected discovery. I'm a fan now! And while it should not matter, I'd like to mention that I'm a hip hop & R&B fan-but i'm all over Glen. Great work! That studio sounds amazing.

Honestly im not really familiar with his music . Maybe a few names that was mentioned that hes worked with thats about it. but just the fact that this guy used to lived in cali n lost his home and his entire collection of gear breaks my heart ..i remember that day when the news were showing the ruins of families homes…it looked like a warzone.. I wouldnt even know what to do in that situation! But im glad to see he bounced back .feels like im walking into his home . Super welcoming with open arms and good hospitality.. about that energy stuff.. i often dnt really hear ppl talk about it . But im a believer of that ..good energy definitely my gets inspiration flowing instantly .. solid dude .. hats 🎩 off to butch walker

Butch is a straight up master. I have been a fan of his for many years (imo - one of the greatest song writers ever). Even though this is a high-end studio, it seems there's not much extra fat here. Not seeing the perfect proportion rooms, over-the-top treatments, miles of channel chains, art gala style furniture, etc. Not saying this is 'modest' gear - but he could have warranted much more. Refreshing to see (and inspiring to us mortals).
