A friend of mine has a lovely skirt that she bought some years ago that has panels of corduroy and tweed. As soon as I saw this pattern, I knew it would be perfect to make my own version of that skirt and came to your channel to check it out. Great video! I'm so glad I found it before sewing my Quebrada. What is the reason for straight stitching and then serging instead of just serging it at the seam allowance?

Only serging is just for knit fabric. A woven left only with the serger only has a 1/4” seam allowance in the end and over time, with the stress of wear, you’ll end up with holes. Wovens need the sewing machine and the serger is only to finish the edges.

Thank you for this! The skirt is beautiful. I have a quick technical question. When you clipped the curve in the waistband seam allowance, did you clip the selvedge tape as well as the fashion fabric? Or just the fashion fabric? Thanks!

Just the linen and not the selvedge. It was a small snip :)

Yes but I would not make it with super super stretchy denim. The fit changes. You still need to interface the facing with non stretch to eliminate the stretch there…. Otherwise the skirt would fall off.
