sarada hokage Aria's mum says in S1 that when Aria gets mad or upset at someone and decides to put up a wall, you could literally die of frostbite. I think that's her personality though. She had to hold in the big problem of her teens (her dad's affair) until it all came spilling out and that became her. She holds all of her anger, her rage, her pain, in, until one day she can't do it any more and bam. Destruction reins.

The story doesn't have to go the twin theory. they can do it as split personality. Like the movie Hide and Seek, having two diff. personalities Good and Bad and the person doesn't even have to know that they have it, like Alison she would just change her attitude in a second. That explains how A is helpful and then hurts the girls. Also Alison in many of the flashbacks she wanted to die young maybe she wanted to kill her other personality.

I think Alison is the one dead. Because Alison wasn't friends with the Liars. When the liars see visions of "Ali" she sees them to make sure they are okay or if they need help. Courtney was their friends not Ali. So Courtney might be alive. Maybe they planned the switch. CeCe is somehow linked to this.

I have a diff thought. Maybe Alison wanted to be with Byron but he turned her down(?) I remember in one episode in the bathroom Jenna saw the earring and she made a face like she knew about it or was it her earring(?) A good twist since she dates many guys any age. Jenna wanted revenge and maybe Byron too. Melissa was the one that send the menacing texts to Alison at the beginning which she admitted, and the texts were not sign by A.
