Great vid. just started riding a unicycle at 46! Have been skateboarding for a long time but my body is wrecked from that, found a unicycle at a yard sale and couldn't put it down. Learning tricks straight away to make it fun and it's been great exercise. Can do it in a small space and makes no noise to annoy my neighbors. Thanks for the video.

hahaha i love it how all those are 'easy', I've been riding over 10 years (mainly distance) but am pushing myself to learn tricks, got the leg around and kick up down pat, but i don't know if I'd say it was easy, plus trying to ride rails. you got some skill dude.

Haha, a lot of people have been saying this about the previous top 10 video! Reality is, easy becomes what you practice. A long distance ride is probably easy for you, but difficult for others. Aswell, these mounts aren't necessarily considered 'easy'. Anyway, cheers! -Chris H.

@PrettyGoodChannel 7 жыл бұрын
I think I will make a mount tutorial for the more advanced in the future. This was more centred around beginners, I just added that mount for a bit of flavor ;). You can see the larger version at 6:50. It's not an easy mount, it is also rather dangerous. You just have to get used to flicking your seat up, everytime you try this trick take note of where you put your seat on your feet, keep it as similar as each previous attempt so you can predict where the seat will be. Landing SIF is also a potential learning step, but this really encourages knee bashes from your frame... -Chris H.

Okay so.... Idk if this sounds judgy or assinine lemme know but like... watching you rattle off these "mounts" and watching both how you make reference to the unicycle and parts of the unicycle, watching how you handle your unicycle, watching you approach your unicycle and how you ride your unicycle... maybe how you dress too? Idk I just feel like you are a skater boy or like a BMX'er that is who you are or who you were first and foremost.... and then one day somebody either handed you a unicycle or you just wanted to be a badass among your friends so you decided to master the unicycle and that is the perspective your coming from. Watching you unicycle is like an eye-rolling reminder of "the Boys" hanging out at the skate park or whatever it's just like all about that tricked out kick flip landing the olly slide railing down the half pipe whatever the F... clearly Idk what im talking about cause I never joined in with that brainless pile of lemmings and that was never my life foccus but yeah your approach to Unicylce makes me think of all that. Your incredible don't get me wrong. But like... so is joe smo skater kid down at the skate park and he's a f*cking looser human being with no life no goals no ambitions and doing absolutely nothing for himself his family his friends or his community. You've already got a leg up on him doing this to inspire people I guess. But you know I just think your approach to unicycling and your style is very generic skater-boy and that's... interesting. ? I guess. I'm curious if I'm correct or I'm like way off and completely wrong. Did you start off as a skater? Or like a BMX biker? Cause you look and sound and act like one and that's.... an interesting approach to unicycling that I didn't know was a thing.
@PrettyGoodChannel
@PrettyGoodChannel 3 жыл бұрын
Haha! What an interestingly indepth and open comment. I understand exactly what you're saying, and I'm not offended- if that's what you're worrying about, with this comment. I know exactly the types you're talking about. I've always been a STREET unicyclist. By that I mean, my hobby has encouraged me to hang out at skateparks, the streets, where the spots for my sport are the most appropriate. The culture involved in such is very similar to the punk rock/anti establishment hip-hop scenes. This generic 'urban' / 'street' style is absolutely something that seeps into your subconsciousness/attire after a while. And I'd say that when I made this video, 4 years ago, I was probably at the peak of my own style simply mimicking the style of others who I surrounded myself with, I feel I've come into my own a bit more now- just more bland now to be honest hahaha, but maybe I haven't, can't say it's anything that bothers me though/keeps me up at night. But basically you're totally right, I'm a typical BMX/skater kid who cares little about what others think, but my toy and medium for my creativity is a unicycle instead of a skateboard/bike. I'd say my personality, that which inspired me to pursue unicycling, is the same personality that attracts skaters/bmx'ers. I have since indeed taken up skateboarding and love skating at different skateparks. Love it. Incredibly therapeutic. This comment: "Your incredible don't get me wrong. But like... so is joe smo skater kid down at the skate park and he's a f*cking looser human being with no life no goals no ambitions and doing absolutely nothing for himself his family his friends or his community" I mean, that's very judgemental and we never know whats going on for joe smo, they may come from a family of harm/violence/drugs/gang activity etc, maybe they experienced childhood trauma that they're unable to manage/confront by themselves and haven't seen a specialist/had that life changing epiphany that SOME of us are lucky enough to have. I come from a town where if you see a kid at the skatepark, you can atleast be happy that it's one more kid that's actually getting some exercise- who atleast has the motivation to learn something, instead of just sitting at home getting high without the aspect of physical activity involved. Kids being active = a good thing. It's unfortunate to look at a child at a skatepark and assume it's doing them no good, skateboarding and the like is an art form that deserves more respect, like a musical instrument etc. I became a world champion for unicycling when I was 17, I was homeschooled up until around age 13- I have no formal qualifications. I was a kid with no career ambitions, no REAL values about myself that I was proud of besides being a vegetarian, disconnected from my indigenous culture and I really didn't have plans of where I was going. All I knew is that unicycling made me feel good, I had a very lonely childhood and this was one of my only joys, it gave me a purpose and a desire to... stay alive essentially, I had some suicidal ideation when I was a child, grew up as an emo kid for example. After being a world champion, I got picked up by a local health organization that wanted to get more kids active and for myself to act as a role model for all the lost youth in my town, they paid me to teach the sport in local schools. Anyway I guess my point is, I was probably the type that you'd think looks like a total do-nothing, useless type. I now work for an organisation that helps the homeless and those needing assistance to navigate processes and the system to access safe and affordable housing. I'm a social issues activist, animal-rights activist, environmental activist, indigenous rights activist and look forward to moving back to my hometown in the near future to continue doing activism and community work with the people I care most about, the people of my home town. And on top of that, I make videos to encourage the next generation of unicyclists- hoping that whatever journey they're on, that my videos can assist them. Hope you enjoy reading this and that it's served you some purpose :) Chris H

As a brand new unicycler, I need to know what other males are doing to keep the family jewels safe. I'm fine when I start by holding onto something (wall, vehicle etc.) so I can take a moment to get positioned, but otherwise I may not end up in a comfortable situation...
@PrettyGoodChannel
@PrettyGoodChannel 7 жыл бұрын
Hmm, yes. Usually the key is to sit on your but, not the jewels. As much as I'd love to do an indepth tutorial on avoiding this problem, I think you might be able to sort it out on your own! See what works, and what doesn't work. Do what works. -Chris H.

how the flipping hell do you do a foot jam Mount its dead hard
@PrettyGoodChannel
@PrettyGoodChannel 7 жыл бұрын
Focus on the first demonstration I give at 6:01. Your foot that's on the tire needs to press against the frame by pulling the seat towards you with your hands, lean over the unicycle as much as possible. If you try to balance during the footjam for as long as possible you should be falling forward not backward. Also don't worry about doing the unispin down, you can go from the footjam directly to the pedals like at 6:24. My favourite version of the mount is at 6:40, the body varial version, feels great. -Chris H.
