Riding today (started a month ago) and felt my hips moving side to side and back and forth (a little). I was able to peddle smoother with this happening. Got home and found your video. You are the first person I have been able to find to tell me something more than practice more. I was shocked that you mentioned the wheel not moving in a straight line and you should let it do it’s think. Thank you

I love hearing this. Thank you! I’m so pumped you’re pedaling smoother. Keep at it!

3:00 it takes a bit of practice but you can almost drive in a straight line on a unicycle. You even don't need any arms to balance. Was a great feeling driving on my 29" with handlebar and just keeping both hands on the bar and only balancing from the hips.

Totally. Riding in a straight line is completely possible. Thank you for mentioning.

Excellent video, thanks. Rode a 20" all over back in the 70's, and starting to get the itch again. The UDC Titan 29", looks like a blast.

This video helped so much! I had trouble peddling before, but with the things I just learned, I'm sure I'll get the hang of it soon enough.

Dan- I've been trying to ride for about a week without a great deal of success. When you ride, it looks like you stand on your pedals with not a lot of weight on the seat. When riding what is the ratio of weight on the seat and weight pressure on the pedals? Some of these "how to" videos say put all your weight in the seat, some are less clear. Thanks for any guidance.

Hey Tracy! Thanks for the comment but I’m sorry to hear you haven’t quite been able to get into the spot. I do have confidence that will change soon. However, you’re right. I do have a bad habit of not sitting in the seat but you eventually want to put as much weight as you can in your saddle. It’s more comfortable and more practical- especially for beginners and distance riders. Mountain unicycling and flatland riding can come with benefits of out-of-the-seat riding but a general rule of thumb is to put all your weight in your seat. I made a video about getting all the way in the seat here if you wanna give it a try. Getting Comfortable in the Unicycle Saddle kzbin.info/www/bejne/faS5mGNpZ5JqhdU All this is to say: yes. Sit in the seat - it might feel odd to put your weight (and trust) into something that you’re not confident in, but eventually you’ll want to sit down all the way for an easier and more enjoyable time 😁. Please ignore my bad habits in the video haha

I have learned to use my break to lock the wheel and get a little of a walking start to mount my 32 inch.....its extremely easy to do that for me and idk if im becoming dependent on that or what. I dont want to develop bad habits but i definitely do that every day just because it made it easier. Now when i was a child i had a 20 inch that i was able to get on but i struggle to free mount without the aid of the break. So ive just kept using the break.
@HoboDan Жыл бұрын
Hey whatever works, works! You’re out there and that’s what counts. I’m coming out with a full mounting 101 video soon but I don’t talk about brakes… that’s a very good point and if you got ‘em, why not use them? 32 inches is a lot more difficult to mount than a 20 so you gotta do it how you can

Depending on where you are you can easily get a used unicycle for very cheap. I have gotten a few in the U.S. for $15-$20 USD which is very cheap compared to what a new one costs

Ah. You’re absolutely right. I appreciate that. There’s a handful of things regarding riding that deserve they’re own video but they should have been mentioned here. If you haven’t checked out this video, this might have a few of those mentions: Fix These 5 Common Issues When Learning to Unicycle in 5 Minutes - How to Unicycle kzbin.info/www/bejne/gXzXpYqDoN1pmrM I truly appreciate the comment!

This is not how you mount the unicycle you want it to line up with the fork
