As well as using faraday pouches I have also removed the start / stop button (it just pulls off) which then requires the key to start the engine. Some may view this as a retrograde step but thieves will certainly vew this as more than a little 'inconvenient'. When I eventually sell the car I'll just pop the push button back on.

Good tip! and on most Mercedes cars with a stop start button, it just pulls out, so an easy do! Cheers, Phil

Leave your keys in the microwave also works.. atleast as a temporary measure.. unfortunetly this does not stop canbus attacks also known as “can injection”… the just plug into your headlight socket from your wheel well and send the “key present” & “unlock doors” message to the ECU and other relevant modules through canbus.. unfortunately we can’t do much about this method.. it’s up to OEM’s to implement a IDPS (intrusion detection and prevention system)within the CAN network, this can actually be done without even needing any extra hardware or modules.. the software can be baked right into the ECU.. possibly even with a software update that should be mandated.… and it would benefit them as well as the owner of the vehicles as then extensive thefts of specific models wouldn’t affect sales as I’m sure it probably does in some form..

Wow, thanks for sharing! I'm now more worried than I was before! As always, the more sophisticated thieves are a step or two ahead... 😱
Good info ....But I found it was not the same on my 2016 Merc GLC AMG Premium Plus. Double clicking on the fob (and four flashes) did not disable the fob and touch entry worked - However if the Start/Stop button was removed from the car first it did work . ...and although a pain it was a good option until you get a Faraday cage or tin fob holder for night storage of keys (as that's when most cars are stolen).

I wrap my fob in aluminum foil

That's a really good solution, especially for someone if they want to do something straight away to protect their car and keys 👍

My advice is don’t touch these fancy overpriced cars

My 2010 Mazda 3 has a keyless entry. Is it fancy? Is it overpriced? ;)
