You can also keep the shoulder and neck off the edge of the pad .

I'm just starting reloading for rifle, having reloaded for pistol calibers some 25 years ago or so. So I'm glad that I discovered your video about this issue. I'm wondering if there might also be residual lube inside your die before you run a freshly-lubed case through it. But like I said, this is mostly a new arena for me, as things are a little different than straight case walls and carbide dies. Thank you for this video, Sir!

Thank you for this review. I received a tip from another reloader along the same lines. Instead of a paper towel, I just lube the lower 1/3 to 1/2 of the case by only putting that portion of the case on the pad, letting the other portion hang off of the long edge. I appreciate the tip of touching the mouth of the case on the pad. :)

Thank you for this video. I am currently having this same issue right now. I didn't know there was a vent on the die. I will check that out. I'm using all hand-me-down reloading tools. .243

Back in the early '70s I had the same problem. A Marine showed me what he does. He uses a rubber stamp ink pad with a few drops of STP on it. Roll your cases lightly wipe off some lub and resize.

Thanks for the tip brothher, I've been into reloading for about 7 months, I've only loaded 70 rounds of 2 calibers of 4 that I plan to load for, 2 days ago, I decapped/sized some 300 win mag brass, this happened to 2 cases, I thought it had to do with the lube but couldn't figure out what.

I havent done a ton of reloading yet. I have stuck like 5 rifle cases so far, but no dents. I have used lanolin based lube & sizing wax. Heavy on both. So heavy the vent was puking lube. No dents. Idk.

Small dents are not a big problem, especially on a cartridge that headspaces on the rim. But if you are like me, you want it a perfect as possible. Make your first test loads with medium charge of powder if you are shooting a lever gun. Lever gun can have hard extraction. They do not have the camming power of a bolt action.

You don't lube the shoulder period! And most people over lube by a long shot If you dented a case with imperial wax I don't even wanne know how you got that much lube on the case to start with, that stuff lasts for 1000ths of cases But neat vid 😁

Imperial lube and imperial graphite. No lube on the neck.

Is just tapping the case mouth on the pad sufficient enough to lube the inside of the case necks?

I usually give it a twist on the paid. After a couple of cases the expander ball gets a coat of lube and you can feel the difference as you size the case.
