Preventive, Preseason Maintenance -- Tighten Your Mercruiser Gimbal Ring Pinch Bolts!

In this video, I quickly show how to tighten the pinch bolts on the gimbal ring for a Mercruiser Alpha One Gen 2. These bolts can stretch and wear out so the swivel shaft actually moves within the gimbal ring. This movement can destroy the gimbal ring and lead to other expensive repairs. By checking and retorquing these bolts periodically, you can save thousands of dollars of repairs and a great time to do this is before the boating season right after the boat is pulled out of storage. Actually, mine will not tighten up at all, just spin!! That can't be good

Gotta get a wrench in the back. There is just a nut there so if you don't hold it it will spin. Assuming that is the problem.
