Billy Arnold (in "car number four") won the 500 in 1930, leading 198 of 200 laps after being the fastest qualifier. Considered by many to be at least the equal of contemporary Louie Meyer, Arnold was leading easily in '31 and on the way to a second win when he crashed and was seriously injured. After recuperating, Arnold ran in this 1932 500, crashed again, was seriously injured again, and retired from racing.
