Aaaaaahhhh! I grew up in Calera so I love to see both cities spotlighted. If you ever make it back & you’re into history Calera also has a confederate cemetery (that used to be a war hospital), a quirky house of prayer that’s super cool, and a short drive to Shelby (which is basically Calera) there’s an ironworks museum and little town set up around it. Montevallo also has a national cemetery. Idk if you noticed but the railroad museum used to be a functioning railroad but it was abandoned after Alabama Power flooded one of the crossings over Lay lake.
