I like how this woman just loves the art, and doesn't really care how much it's worth. Honestly, I'd have a copy made and sell the original.

One of those rare times I don't feel bad for the thrift store that it was undersold. In contrast, I despise antique dealers who buy something underpriced at a thrift store, and then resell it for more, because that profit was supposed to go to charity.
@email4664 Жыл бұрын
Yawn. It is the charity's responsibility to understand the gifts that they are given, versus taking them for granted and dumping them for a dollar a piece. Any dealer finding a gem and marking it up is participating in Capitalism, and in USA, that is the way it goes. Hate it? Charities often operate tax free.
@litigioussociety4249 Жыл бұрын
@@email4664 It's obvious you believe in stealing from the poor. It's essentially the same as breaking a dollar for change out of blind beggar's alms, such as putting ten dollars in, and taking nine back. I'd be fine with the dealer donating some percentage of the profits to the thrift store, 15% would be the minimum, customary amount. I know if I bought something at a thrift store for say 50 bucks, and later it was purchased from me for 5000, I would give half to the store.

The lady went into a store and bought an item offered for sale. Seems to me the store did as well as they could have hoped. You need a lesson (or three) about basic economics. If I go into Walmart and they have an under-priced item should I give them extra money for it? BTW, these so called charities you feel so sorry for are not as 'charitable' as you probably think. It is quite likely that the antique dealer you are bad-mouthing is more charitable than the thrift store that the profit was supposed to go to (in your eyes).
@hxhdfjifzirstc894 Жыл бұрын
Nonsense. The situation you're describing is actually just a bunch of lazy people not bothering to do any work, and pretending to do charity -- the antique dealer actually has a job or a business, and deserves to get paid FOR THE WORK THEY DID. You don't want to do any work. You want to take some junk off your wall and throw it at goodwill, so you can pat yourself on the back. And your mad because goodwill doesn't do any work either and you know your charity is just an empty charade.

Lucy lady but if she found another she wouldn't have another 38 years for it to become valuable. Considering that it was a gift from God.

She found, preserved & enjoyed for 38yrs for a $1. Believe she got the bargain.
@hxhdfjifzirstc894 Жыл бұрын
It was already worth at least $2,000 when she bought it. Considering inflation, the 38 years don't have much to do with the current number.
