Hi @kaanwetzki, the take-home tips shown in this video are a preview of the full-length video.

Your scope and sequence is marvelous! I am a former teacher, and retired Illustrator from the Boeing Company. I have taught over 18,000 students calligraphy in Tacoma over the seven years I worked there as a Substitute for K-12. I am getting reacquainted with pastels, in the soft region of Rembrandt, Mungyo and Grumbacher...I only did an 8 week problem using Simultaneous Contrasting by George Seurat, and Florals like Georgia O'Keefe as my subject of choice. I am subscribing to glean!

To those who are wondering why this video is not showing the completed sky, it is because this is an excerpt from a teaching video that can be viewed at Artistnetwork.tv . Liz is an amazing artist and gifted teacher. It cost $200.00 a year to view any and all of their videos as many times as you wish. Granted this seems like a lot, but how much would it cost you to attend one art class . Think about it.....travel, food, hotel, then payment for the class. Or you can purchase any video for $20.00. What ever floats your boat.

Amazing work. I have to try this/ What medium did you use to underpaint the sky with the brush?

Liz uses alcohol and flat synthetic brushes to do her underpaintings.

The background to the clouds is pink/mauve in part 3. It then skips to part 4 where the background to the clouds is the correct blue colour. What did you do in between parts 3 and 4? Regards and nice work.

+watercolorist7 I wouldn't even have a problem with that IF it weren't for the fact that most artists 'teaching' don't really impart any earth-shattering news that will help to propel their students forward as painters. They might encourage students to try a different style, but it's no secret that a chef never shares his secret UNLESS he is going into retirement or is putting a book out.

***** I get what you're saying to an extent. I'm a realist painter and while I don't need these videos to teach me (although I have much to learn there's nothing really left to teach because its just a matter of doing) I still like to watch and find paintings gratifying to look at. But when there isn't a painting to look at in the end that is not so gratifying.

Wet pastel?

Hi Dinet, Liz dissolves the pastel with alcohol to create an underpainting on which to then build up layers of dry pastel. Enjoy!

Looks like cr_p at the end of step three. Then step four starts and it looks very good. So...much of the best was skipped. You can't really learn her method by watching this.

Honestly, you don't really need grey if you're using purples. Lavender should substitute your greys.

I think this was an underpainting using watercolor. Paper must be mounted to avoid buckling.
