I over seeded KBG in my Fescue lawn (front) two falls ago. Around spring time, my neighbors were asking what I had done to the lawn to make it look so good. In TN so similar transitions zone issues as you.

I hear that!

Sounds like a great blend. KBG did well in northern KY and north central OH. I used GCI Cool Blue with full renovation here in the piedmont of NC last fall. We’ll see how well the 15% KBG holds up in the summer here. It was probably late October or early November before any of the KBG germinated so hopefully it will develop deep enough roots to survive.

Hey Mr. Ferg, I got my soil test results back yesterday and the PH is exactly where it needs to be. I'll be putting down a 7-0-20 (stress blend I usually use in the summer months) as recommended by the soil test results. Was surprised that N/K was so low but the P was at optimal. The micros were all optimal as well. I can't stress enough how important a soil test is. If I hadn't have completed one I'd have ended up messing the PH level up big time. Great vid, btw.

That’s Neal. Yes, testing is important to get it dialed in right

Getting close, only slightly more than 400 more subs needed. My front yard couldn’t handle Cool Blue because it’s in direct sun 12+ hours in the summer. I went back to GCI TTTF for overseeding. I eventually want to turn my back yard into blue grass only. It gets the perfect amount of sun and shade. Looking forward to seeing how Blue Panther looks.

I've always used JG black beauty with good results and had just recently switched to Titanium2 LS tall fescue.

This is more of a preview than a review, right? Is JG is still using the Pivot cultivar for their KBG? If so, that's not really considered elite in terms of turf trial ratings, so I'm curious to see how this seed would compare to Award, Mazama, Blue Gem, Everest or a number of other elite cultivars.
@MrFergusonLawn8 ай бұрын
Not sure. I’m no kbg expert as to what is elite and what isn’t. I guess preview is acceptable until we get it growing to see it ourselves.

I don't suppose you have any advice for someone that has a lot of trees? My yard is basically bald with weeds cause I have sandy loam and 11 trees soaking up all the water

For areas like that with tons of shade, a shade mix of seed is best to get it going. It will take time, but either Jonathan Green sun & shade or dense shade mix would be my choice. I would soil test to see where ph is, and before all this, I’d look at a lawn care plan! A guide to help you. It’s what helped me. You can find e great guides at lawn care nut website, or GCI turf website. shrsl.com/46n6j
