Thanks.. precisely my thoughts. It scares me to know how few Christians these days eeem to have any discernent.. we dont follow anyone blindly. Moses, David and Solomon all made mistakes. No one is perfect and no christian should expect others to be perfect. Just be humble, ask for forgiveness if required and move on. God don't expect us to be prefect, He only expects us to respond in humility. In this shameful debacle, all I see is pride, blind defense, anger, lies and persecution..

This is so interesting to me. I accepted Jesus Christ in 1978. Wow, how time flies! 46 years ago! I have seen so many cases exactly like the James River Church, John Lindell's recent debacle, it's almost routine. As a matter of fact, I live in the Pacific Northwest and am familiar with the Mars Hill Church, Mark Driscoll's old ministry. I had gone to a few services just before he was forced to resign in 2014. I lost track of him until this recent upheaval. It's so ironic that it is he who is at the center of this controversy. I fully agree with you guys, John Lindell should have just admitted he was wrong and apologized to the congregation but, nope, he seems to be going in the same direction Mark Driscoll did after he was confronted by the elders of Mars Hill Church. If I recall, Mark had very similar accusations, like the elders were dividing the church. Nope! They carefully and respectfully confronted Mark on many issues and he refused council. Now it's Mark Driscoll who challenged a senior Pastor who refuses to acknowledge an error in judgment! 47 years= *Shrug*

Heartbreaking indeed to see the continued problems within the church, but we know from reading the Scriptures, that this shouldn't be surprising. (2 Timothy 3:1-5) I'm also from Seattle and familiar with the Driscoll camp, and pray the Lord uses this to magnify HImself by bringing clarity and encouragement through His Word!

Lindell also claims that Magala was witnessed sharing his faith at an airport.... this is either a LIE, or Lindell's people that witnessed this LIED or they don't know the Gospel, because Magala can not share what he does not understand.

To me, Pastor Lindell needs to do things in order: 1. Make it right w/Alex & John, 2. Confess to the General Council of the Assembly of God 3. take whatever punishment in the spirit of Psalm 51. Humbly resign.

I wonder if the movement toward Bethel doctrine was because of Lindell's health issues? And that he himself had a divine miracle in his own life, so after that, he gravitated toward Bethel?

From an outside perspective a problem I see is JRC has one family with too much power in leadership and to many yes men. Seem more like a business church to keep money in the family. Reminds me of the High Priest and his father in law who didn’t like Jesus, and how Jesus was messing with the amount of money brought to the temple.

You are exactly right all five members of the Lindell family are on the payroll and there's a whole generation coming up behind the son's! It is a business a big business! When he retires he's already appointed his son's and daughter to run the church! You can't use just parts of the Bible you like and throw out the rest!

I believe that JRC separated from the Assembly of God a few years ago, so I feel badly that they are dragged into any discussion of this situation. Have I misunderstood their relationship with the Assembly of God? Thank you for this video.

Similar problems are slowing happening with the COG in Cleveland TN. In our organization we have no checks and balances however if admin. Writes a check then things balances.

Sorry to hear, but praise God for the opportunity to minister to the flock while you are there. We dealt with a similar and though heartbreaking, God used it to grow great fellowship with others noticing the same and grew through it.

I'm sure there are key leaders within the A/G that have addressed him with their concerns privately, but I do not know about the institution. Although he did mention that he has spoken with the leadership of the A/G.

@@Once-lost I attended JRA when I was working on my grad studies at AGTS, from 2003-2007 I loved the church but I disagreed with his preaching on women in the pastorate. I too taught in their kids church, and in small groups, et., and my husband and I became members. This whole thing grieves my heart. I appreciate you all sharing about it.
