Hi Everyone!
My name is Dan, and I am a veterinarian. Today I am talking about removing a lipoma on a dog and what pricing looks like. In this video I will provide and estimate and what to expect for a surgery quote. Lipoma surgery prices vary a lot based on location, size, and depth of the lipoma.
This video does provide some objective pricing, but always consult your veterinarian regarding pricing.
A dog lipoma is a benign (non-cancerous) fatty tumor commonly found in dogs. These soft, round, or oval masses develop under the skin and are generally slow-growing. Lipomas are usually not painful or harmful, though in some cases, if they grow large enough or are in a sensitive area, they may cause discomfort or impede movement.
Key Points:
Common in Older Dogs: Lipomas are more often found in middle-aged to older dogs, though younger dogs can develop them too.
Non-cancerous: Lipomas are benign and rarely pose a serious threat to a dog’s health. However, there are malignant variants, such as liposarcomas, though they are much rarer.
Typical Locations: These tumors are most often found on the chest, abdomen, or limbs, but they can appear anywhere on the body.
Treatment: Most lipomas do not require treatment unless they grow large, interfere with mobility, or cause discomfort. In those cases, surgical removal may be recommended.
If you notice any new or growing lumps on your dog, it’s always best to have a veterinarian check them to ensure they are benign lipomas and not a more serious condition.
