So the original thickness of the crankshaft to the hollow center (which I thought was for lubrication) is around an inch or so. It broke. The weld to repair the shaft could not be more than a quarter of an inch thick. Hard to say as some of it was machined down. We all know that a quarter of an inch is much stronger than an inch. This crank should last around 2 or 3 revolutions which is what the guarentee was for I am sure. The accuracy of the machining is a close as the wire feeler they used to center the shaft. The tolerance is probably in the plus or minus one fourth of an inch or so. I am sure the shaft front and rear bearings lined up, well sorta. A little 1000 weight oil and a really strong starter motor and all is OK. Well for a minute. Ear plugs recommended for the engine knock, but they would fit in with the safety sandals.

Selam. Hello. There was an oil channel in the broken part, you did not do this. The connecting rod will be left without oil and the bearing will deteriorate in a short time. Your other mistake was that you should have opened a V-shaped channel in the part you put in the middle of the broken part and filled it with welding before welding. The welding you made remained on the surface and when you corrected it with a lathe, you took most of it and a thin part remained. In the last process, you should have hardened it by heating, you did not do this either.

Love the dial indicating calipers. Actually, a nice digital micrometer would have been preferred, but when using a file to flatten the soft bearing surface, a mic wouldn't really be necessary since it's not being surface hardened, that crank won't last long anyway....

I believe if that were dropped on the floor. It would fall apart into 3 pieces! The additional piece of steel wasn't weld prepared. The weld are not near full penetration. Seems the welds actually holding it together by are thin as a sheet of paper I would have cut deep into the area between the different metals and welded them together starting deep inside the crankshaft. Then move to the next side. As it is seems simply dropping it would break it! It would been better to put a 12mm both through the crank . And weld it in through the break, then drill out the bolt. Atleast the whole journal would be welded. I don't think this is real. Just a video to post. Looks like a staged "need for repair" cut a junk crank in half, then video a bad repair of it! Sorry, alot of these guys do amazing work, not like lazy Americans . However this I feel is not it! This is like mailing your roommate a letter, waste of a stamp!
