IMHO, TAMO really need to either update their entry level EV products to justify the prices or pass on the benefits (tax exemptions and lower battery prices) to the customers. Tiago and Punch LR are overpriced with their current pricing. Punch LR should get prismatic cells battery with at least 38kw capacity. Only Nexon 45kw justifies the price tag on couple of base variants. Chinese companies have already started dumping their cheap EVs in our market. How long GOI is going to save local players with tax exemptions and subsidy?

You are absolutely right and I have been tagging Tataev twitter accounts regarding this many times. Most of the prospective EV car buyers are not bothered about saving the environment but to cut down the running costs. As you rightly pointed out that Punch EV should have come up with a 40 kw battery pack by this time with a price range of sub 12 lakhs price range. Majority of the car users are not bothered about features and what they want is anxiety less range and glitch free handling. That's it. Make it as simple as that. Instead the manufacturers are adding hell a lot of features which can hardly be used in our traffic conditions and roads and asking for a fortune to buy. I don't think that any middle class person who value his hard earned money is going to invest 20 lakhs plus on an EV car. Instead he can happily choose a 10 lakhs car and enjoy a tension free ride.

@Tklshriram71 Thanks... Many fan boys get triggered after reading such opinion but to make EVs mainstream they must be made affordable and reliable first. Punch EV has the potential to bring lot of numbers if battery size is increased to 38-40 kw with prismatic cells and at least one variant is priced under 12-13 lakhs.

Economic BEVs are required, price of EVs should be less than ICE cars considering the components, government push. Even the 20lakhs cars doesn't have 6c or 4c charging capability Need good competition in indian EV market for quality and features and services.
