This scene lets the audience know that Lizzie and Darcy actually did get married. After all the tension, the anxiety release at sunrise and her father's consent, they're married. So sad there was no wedding scripted. Cheers to romance!! 🥂

This ending is in the bonus content on the dvd here in the UK and I HAVE to watch it after the film every time as it absolutely should be the ending!

I watched this movie twice. The first time ended with this scene. The second time it ended when Lizzie talked to her father. The second time I was confused and wondered, "where is the ending?"

I love this ending! As a fan of Jane Austen, I knew this scene's creation and demise. This is definitely an added scene (not part of Jane Austen's pride and prejudice storyline). There was a test screening both in the UK and the US. The reaction of British audience was reported to be unfavorable while the US audience was more accepting to the added ending. I could imagine die hards scandalized of this. However, every movie is an interpretation. It is highly edited for commercial consumption. I do love how it turned out. The cast was lovely. It gave a more visualized ending of the romance between two legendary characters. I approve of this fresh take just because of its playful but fluid continuity of the characters more romanticized conclusion. I could imagine Elizabeth Bennet finally realizing true love and relishing married life. "Lizzy" for every day, "My Pearl" for Sundays, and "Goddess Divine" but only on VERY special occasions.
