I remember buying a pride flag at my first anime convention like 4 years ago, I was so happy. When I got home I realised that my mom would be suspicious of it so I just said I got it for free and I'd only be keeping it "for the sentimental value". A few months later , I think I tried coming out to her as pansexual...and the way she looked at me... the way she said that she didn't agree with it and that if I had a girlfriend , she didn't want to hear about it. She said she still loved me regardless...but I could tell that she was disgusted. So I made up some dumb excuse that I only came out to see how she'd react and then I had a panic attack in my room. By the end of that year... I had decided to burn that pride flag. Now, years later I can say that I'm queer (unlabled sexuality and gender wise) and I'm beyond happy to be able to participate in pride this year. Still not able to be out and open with my family but that's honestly ok, cuz at least I know I'm not alone. HAPPY PRIDE MONTH EVERYONE💖🏳️‍🌈🤝🏾🏳️‍🌈💖

I found out I was a le dolla bean 9 years ago, I was very proud of it 8 years ago, but discovered it was unsafe. 7 years ago I still had a rainbow bracelet that the gsa club had given me. I was sooo ashamed of myself and tried so hard to be straight because I knew I could be in danger, so I cut up the bracelet, separating the colors and threw the pieces in different trash just in case. It was the bracelet that 8 years ago had meant so much to me but I would put in my pocket and put it on on the bus where I couldn't see my house anymore, and the one I would take off as soon as I was coming back home. I really liked that bracelet, even though it was just a cheap flexible plastic one. I don't regret being a le dolla bean anymore, but what I do regret everyday is doing that to the bracelet

Hey, I was in the same situation not long ago, It’s ok to take some time to come out, if you want to eventually come out, you should start to think about how you would do it in regular everyday conversations, for example, when my parents would ask if there’s anyone I’m interested in, I would imagine a scenario where I came out to them that way, but in real life I’d just say no, you’ll get closer every time and it’s just a nice way to get comfortable with the idea before actually doing it.

Today, I was extremely happy and lucky to be able to watch my boyfriend graduate as I had been picked in a small group to sing the national anthem and seats were still restricted to just family. He was the last transgender person called up. All the previous ones had been called their real names, despite not having a legal name change yet. He was not. And I knew it was because of pressure from his family. Not because he didn't want to out himself, no, they already knew. It was his celebration. Not theirs. And they ruined it, forever. He will never be able to look back happily on the moment he was handed his diploma. Not because he was scared or closeted, because they went out of their way to make his life worse. All this to say, I needed this on my page right now. Thank you. I'll be taking him to pride with me this October (in my area it got moved to October last year due to COVID and everyone just decided they like an october celebration better). His parents trust me and let him stay with me without much trouble, though they don't know we are dating. So he will just stay at my house for the weekend because "we want to hang out". Maybe they will know by October though, we're planning on hanging out a lot this summer and his mom said one time that she would be fine with him dating me (among a list of other candidates; basically saying "i want you to date someone i already know and trust, like these people"), but I don't trust his stepdad with the info so we'll see. Stay safe everyone. My boyfriend's parents do not get physically violent which is why we are willing and able to sneak him to pride. If you can't have a friend sneak you to pride, then stay strong. It's only a few more years, or a few more months. Heck, celebrate your own pride the moment you leave your parent's house. Like I said, my area moved celebrations to October because we like it better. If you need to have a pride party because you just got your first apartment and it is your first opportunity to catch up on all those missed prides, then do it.
