I know I’m real late to this very small party, but as a kid of someone that knew nothing about taking pictures (but loved to do so) or appropriate social behavior when taking them. I feel for this guy who is definitely a fully grown adult man by now.

Also as someone that also did band quite seriously, I would have absolutely yelled at my step mother in this situation. Kudos to this guy for being more mature than I am now, much less 13 years ago when I was doing it.

Fortunately my son had enough self esteem to not get embarrassed when I was excited for him. He turned out just fine in spite of my enthusiasm, thank you very much.

Can you not take pictures while recording? it's annoying. I know you want a picture of your kid, but your videoing.

Yeah you can definitely take a picture of a recording after the fact; even 10 years ago.
