It’s so underrated! One of those movies that gets better the more times you show it to people that haven’t seen it before

I think it may be partially due to its (awkward) title being hard to remember.

14:00 "you can't really talk through a scene like this" they say, while talking through almost the entire scene. I realize a reaction isn't meant for the viewer to get the full movie experience, but I would like the guy on the left to experience it. As someone who has already watched it, sure you can talk and miss a few things and still get the complete picture, but surely your friend missed a lot during that scene

I’m only 10min into the reaction and I’m already wondering if this reaction is going to be ruined by yet another person who saw the film and just can’t let anyone else experience it the way they originally did because they need to talk and analyze WHILE the scenes are playing. If that’s what I’m in for, then I won’t be watching any more reactions after this one. :(

SUCH a great film… and greetings from Chicagoland! Always bittersweet to jarring seeing Randy Salerno, the reporter saying ‘Police have their hands full.’ Some yrs later he died in a snowmobiling accident in WI. All of the reporters featured in the film were Chicago journalists. At the time there was not a general knowledge of the issues within the church. I remember that reveal moment being up there w Sixth Sense… just a notch below lol Mostly remember the incredible performance of Ed Norton. Another GREAT similar flick if you’ve not seen it: Presumed Innocent with Harrison Ford. Nice reaction; subscribed!♥️ Stay safe & love much💖

Edward Norton is difficult to work with but his instinct is usually right. In American History X, the director wanted the end of the movie for Daryl to go home and shave his head after his brother is killed. Ed fought against it and I think he was right. The movie would have been diminished if it showed him reverting back to his racist way. Having it left up in the air was the right way to go and if it takes Edward being difficult than I’ll take it.

The ‘Primal Fear’ is that Marty knows now Roy will be out eventually.
@hayleyferguson3346

I have difficulty with the plot holes: a) if Roy is so tough, arrogant and cunning, why let himself get caught? b) if Roy is naturally aggressive & rebellious, he wouldn't have submissively participated in a SA video and let himself be a victim C) he runs away "in character" as Aaron even though nobody is watching him d) Roy risked death penalty if his "plan" didn't work, seems implausible

For me, the super predictable twist is not the reason I love rewatching this: but because Martin Veil is such a weird, interesting character & Gere makes him fascinating to watch. Gotta be one of Richard Gere's best performances, in a role that's pretty challenging. Laura Linney is terrific as well, in an even trickier role. (I'd argue both Gere & Linney had tougher jobs than Norton.) Together they even evoke a bit of Bogart & Bacall in the old, classic noir. Veil's journey to a victory, that actually just ends up hollowing out the marrow of his deepest moral values...it's very much like some old noir, actually, which is SO odd & against type for a legal thriller in "the John Grisham era" of the genre. Norton's debut is, of course, amazing in how near-effortless it feels. I'm so glad this film exists.

you keep saying it is norton's first role, it is his first movie role; they brought him from broadway he had done lots of that and had to be approved by the great richard gere; and he did several takes with norton to be sure he was right for the part; and gere said he would do the movie if norton was the kid; leonardo dicaprio turned it down as he was doing something else and richard gere said he would not do the movie if they could not get the right altar boy;

Yeah, there is no way that knife is going right through the priests hand. Bad movie physics :) The prosecutor is the wife in Ozark. The crazy thing is that she also says 'marty' all the time in that show. And is from Chicago. I thought I was imagining it. This was from 1996 and Ozark is just in it's 4th season.

i have seen the movie many times as it is one of my favorite movies; there is no one quite like richard gere except johnny depp; richard gere did not want it to be a love story as janet venable is his ex girlfriend who he is trying to make up with; gere said no it has to be about the defense attorney and the kid; but you keep talking about how wonderful norton is and he is not in the same league with richard gere; cmon. love this movie;
