That was brilliant. I've just finished my first full playthrough of ff9 since i first played it to completion when it was released. Im completely shocked that I didn't remember the whole your not alone section and had no recollection of the music! It's by far one of the best FF tracks. So proud of myself for beating Ozma for the first time, what a noob. X

"Jump Rope does not exist." Gawd, I wish. I'd gladly platinum this game if it wasn't for that damn jump rope trophy requiring you to do 1000 jumps. That's 10x worse than the 100-jump rope moon in Metro Kingdom in Super Mario Odyssey! At least that you can cheat by moving a letter in the jump rope path and sitting on it as the game doesn't realize you aren't jumping, but not here. (I know there is a trick but it requires a turbo controller and I don't have one. X( I know I can put a separate save for later but I just hate grinds like this. X()

I think you may have underutilized Dagger for this, since her trance summons are basically infinite. Unless you forbid using her, since that's broken.

Another great challenge completed. Holy cow - that looked rough, from the rules! To answer the question about why you got 3 turns of Trance, in one battle, instead of 2, I think that's also Spirit. I remember reading a list of everything Spirit does once (and wow, it's basically everything) and it included both how quickly Trance fills and how long it lasts. So if you had something equipped that boosted spirit, that's probably what did it.

You would be correct. Spirit affects the speed of trance gain and trance turn count on top of affecting the speed of regen. So trance heavy runs like this always aim for spirit growth (and high tide to fix trance gain in your favor) to maximize trance activity

One thing I never see in videos is that you can use the summon gems to heal in battle, and they heal more the more of that particular gem you have in your inventory. They can be really effective, much better than Hi Potions late game!

my biggest critique for thje vid was the mismatch of the audio at the end. Audio is saying whats going on almost a minute before we see it. Other than that, great job Primal, all hail the grind king. now give yourself a pat on the back and go spend some time with Dolly

i know, its the difficulty of the animations being so long, explanations being short and my terrible editing skills :( i tried to sync it up but it just wasnt having any of it, in other challenges it can be ok but this one sort ruins it with the length of the fights and makes it much harder

You get 3 attacks sometimes because Zidane (or anyone else for that matter) gets hit a few times and it increases the stagger bar even when you are in a trance.

Yeah. Ozma is always a LUCK fight even when you know the tricks. Only insert commands during Ozma's action animations, balance your shadow/holy absorption and immunity (all absorbs actually removes that move from Ozma's move pool and you want as wide of a move pool on him to limit curse/meteor use)

You mentioned during the Ozma fight (around 1:05:00) that you wished you had Frog Drop or Thievery. Which confused me. I know you can't use Thievery in this challenge (because the Dyne command replaces the Skill command, so Zidane can never use Skills - including Thievery - while tranced), but what's stopping you from using Frog Drop? You already beat Necron, I think you can handle Quale. Just go Cook a Gigan Toad, kick Quale's butt, catch 101 frogs (weren't you already at 98?) and level Quina to 99. 101×99=9999 damage every turn while Quina's trance lasts.

You can lose the tutorial fight against Baku at the start, and the game just continues normally. Also in the second Steiner fight (the one with the two Pluto knights), the battle just ends if everyone but Garnet is KO'd, and the third fight against him ends when the bomb is done growing - which happens automatically. You do still need to beat the first Steiner fight (I think), and I don't know what happens if you lose the King Leo fight, but those are the only fights you need to win before unlocking Zidane's Trance.

I love the idea of this challenge so so much, and want to do it, myself. (though sure, excruciating as it may be until you can get higher spirit and High Tide... maybe I'd let myself flee... Ozma, odd the strategy guide said to use Zidane Grand Lethal and all...) Didn't use Trance enough when I played the game. Also didn't use the Quickenings enough in ff12. I love the trance transformations of all the characters. Zidane becomes more monkey and has monkey fur and neon pink. Vivi's pointy hat straightens. Steiner has a vizer that goes down and he's like Darth Vader. Guess Garnet has the same leotard as all the Alexandrian women soldiers have, and like the yellow. Like gold sonic. Eiko's wings show more, and her summoner horn gets light extension (like Squall/Leon's sword in ff8 and Kingdom Hearts). Odd Amarant becomes like naked and kinda like monkey, too... But QUINA, clothes become like an armor. Then Freya, just cooler and shinier than ever.

click your own time link, drop the video to 0.25 speed and check again, steiner and vivi are not in trance and still have a very noticable gap in there trance bar. nice try at coming at me though.

@@Primalliquid92 did so, betweedn 11:46 and 11:47, you see that the trance bar gets full on both vivi and steiner, and this is with .25x speed - if you want to say it's not accurate, fine, i'd like to know why if you cheated, so be it, you cheated, not a big deal, or even bumped the button on accident, no big deal but saying you did something that you didn't - why? hope it's not for views, because this is what you're known for and you don't want to grind these out? if so, pick something else to play/run, or hide it better in the future, man - just my 2 cents

update - i checked your ffx overpowered video as well and your numbers don't add up - you grind for 12 hours on sinspawn and the money compared to xp doesn't match to get you level 99 for each character - you should simply admit that you use cheats and don't do the actual work, dude
