Getting level 99 in the first reactor on Final fantasy 7 isnt as hard or difficult as alot of people seem to think, the challenge was first started by a player known as dick tree back in 2012 he offered proof of his grinding upto a certain point but then denied posting anymore while still claiming he hit max level, alot of people were dubious and doubtfall then in 2015 a player by the name circlmaster decided he’d had enough waiting 3 years for dick tree to post the rest of his progress and so started the run himself, even streaming some of it to twitch and his entire reason for doing it? To express hatred for dick tree due to the massive disappointment caused by no longer posting. Now im known as a big grinder myself and honestly i think its weird i’ve not done a shot at this myself, and hey it can be a nice Christmas video if its ready in time so lets do it, heres my run hitting 99 in about 400 hours. And here I thought that my 24 hours in the first reactor as a kid was 'the height of crazy'. Look at my master Lightning and Ice materia! I'm unstoppable! Then there's this... my younger self is both in awe and saddened by being so overwhelmingly beaten.

My OG save of FF7 I got to 97. I did this just so I had a better chance to beat Ruby weapon. This was because I wanted to get knights of the round, and didn’t understand Chocobo breeding. Later I learned how to breed Chocobos and still had level 97 characters. Never could bother myself to get to 99.

I mean of course it's possible and it's not "hard" or "difficult", it just takes a like 400 hours of grinding. Although to many of us finding the time, motivation and patience to grind for 400 hrs is difficult, lol.

My buddy Reggie did this. He dropped out of school to play games. I remember very vividly he saved the game before the final boss. And then he beat the crap outta the boss. Longest ending to a video game ever

The ending to ff7 isn't very long at all. First thing that comes to mind as being something that seems to go on forever is maybe Kingdom Hearts 2. But hell even the final boss rush of the first KH takes longer than FF7.

I played this game so much back in the day I did this simply because it was one of the many challenges I created for myself. I also challenged myself to beat emerald weapon without underwater materia, or never using command materia, or grinding until u can beat the giant snake in the sand just to name a few. Fun times, unfortunately don't get the urge to do this with FF7R.

I hit lv 99 on the first reactor when I was a kid. Took me a long time , the timer was maxed out and My number one rule for leveling is if it takes very long to lv once , just level one time per day and that exactly what I did. Everyday after school , straight to leveling and when you do hit max level the entire game is pretty easy and you can finish the game under 10 hours. I don't have proof of this due to because at the time tech has not advanced enough and I was a kid using the original ps1. Took me a long time and I was proud of myself. Mind you I did this before 2012 and it was around early 2006. There was no way to share my accomplishment , I didn't have internet and computers where ass at the time and there was no screen capturing at the time either. I can't prove this but I don't care to prove it anyone but myself and at the time I was very proud of myself for it. As a kid I was a FF7 beast , the only thing I never knew how to do was getting 7777 hp all the time and primalliquids video on it answered so many questions the little kid me had. I mastered ff7 on my own as a child , and it was the only game I had that successfully helped me escape my hard life as child growing up. FF7 was all I had.

I think the best would be going for Level 25 in the Reactor first, because you need to grind with new Materias.

That’s a lie, he wasn’t the first person to do it because I did this back in 98 and was the first amongst any and everyone that I knew that had the game. I also know that I wasn’t actual the first person worldwide to do it, I just wanted to prove that I could do it TOO.

@@SuperbossSlayer Horst I’d ever went was Lv 67 and 74 but then I found out that there was a person that went all the way to Lv 99 so I told myself okay, time to set a new goal and man that was the most exhausting shut I have ever done in any game ever. I don’t think I have ever grinded that much in any game even till this day. I did that back when I was 15 years old, I’m now 38 and still gaming and have done some crazy stupid grinds but nothing will ever top that 1 play through of FF7. Left at Lv99, then went on to have all Gold Chocobos which I gave each one a character name from Dragon Ball X hahaha. Then mastered 7 of every type of Materia and and used the morph Materia to farm the items that permanently boost your stats. I maxed out Cloud, Vincent, and Nanaki and started to do the same with Tifa and used the Aeriths glitch.

wasn´t there a save file going around with all characters lvl 99 in that reactor mission, but when you loaded the file you had too little time remaining on the countdown to make it out of the reactor? making the file completely worthless

Actually if you have the “physical chip” you can install in ps1, you can chose the level you start the game, this actually in 2000, soooooo… records…

time is relative, it depends on how much time you spend each day, for me it was about 3 months because its my job so i can easily just chuck 10 hours a day into it

Went ahead and did the math on this and for cloud to hit level 99 getting 71p every encounter (which you won't) requires a leisurely 34 THOUSAND 538 encounters. You are the Patron Saint of Patience and Dedication Primal. Side note: Cloud starts the game at level 6 with 611 exp.

Yeah ok, then you gotta grind up Tifa, Aerith, Red, Cid, Yuffie and Vincent. All that's needed is their limit breaks which you simply use the first one so many times then kill 60-80 enemies to upgrade to the next limit level. This seems like a waste of time considering you've also gotta level up your materia.
