Greg, just wanted to tell you that I have been following your great videos and with incorporating your techniques into my process and today I was able with my new 6.5 Creedmoor to put 7 shots under 1/2” at 300 yards. I was using Alpla SRP brass, CCI magnum primers, H4350, Berger 140 gr. Hybrid Target with an expanding mandrel .003 over and seated with a K&M Arber press. Average Velocity 2708 with an SD of 3.6 Thanks again, Tom

A reloading process tier rank would be cool. Ive got a decent handle on whats important in my process, but for an intermediate reloader that wants to up his game, it would be very handy to know where to spend the money next. When it comes to the call of perfection, its important to realize that the law, even as its given in the sermon on the mount, serves to condemn the sinner (all of us). Our perfection is only found in Christ. Not of ourselves.

Folks that are not sure Greg has hit the mark with his teachings of Christ. I can say the more you apply your self like you do with reloading the more God shows an blesses us in his time. He is watching over his living words waiting to apply them to us that try or practice it.. Hebrews 4;12.. Just a quick question . What is the purpose of the dryer sheets? What is the benefit of neck brushing with lube? Thanks so much for your knowledge.
@primalrights
@primalrights 2 ай бұрын
The dryer sheets keep static cling to a minimum and they snag some contaminants each cycle as well. I don't brush necks, but I use an undersized bore mop to deposit some imperial wax on the ID of the neck. This ensures the expander mandrel in the die can glide over the surface of the neck uniformly without building up brass. Just keeps things nice and smoothly uniform.

As someone new to reloading, these process/checklist videos are awesome! One quick question on the dryer sheet idea. I was ready to just grab some sheets from our laundry room until I read that "Dryers sheets vary quite a bit from one product to another. Some use clay as the primary additive, others use fatty acids and some use quaternary ammonium salts." Bottom line, apparently some dryer sheets can leave a residue on the brass? So, any recommendations on which brand or type of dryer sheets to use? Thanks

Greg, I have been reloading for about 10 years now, and I still am learning from you. Thanks for what you do. Quick question that I really have never heard a definitive answer to anywhere. If your brass length is within the general Sammi Spec length, would you trim all your brass to the same general length for best consistency or would you just load them even if they varied in length by say .005"? I don't know if a variance of .005" in length makes a difference in neck tension and accuracy or not. Thus, I always trim to get my cases within +/- .001". Am I wasting my time or is this good practice for consistency?

Gregg one thing I'm noticing with both your videos and Keith over at Winning In The Wind, is not cleaning brass before annealing and sizing. Conventionally we're taught to clean our brass before lubing and sizing. This is obviously not the case with shooters like yoursef, Keith and others. Is the carbon on the neck a non-issue for the sizing operation? I shoot and load 308 for nothing more than what I'd call long range plinking. But I am always trying to improve my loading operations without adding too much cost or complexity, within reason. Would I be better served just leaving the powder fouling on the necks until post-sizing tumbling?

@primalrights
@primalrights Ай бұрын
Because if the brass doesn't need to be set back, you don't want to set it back. That's how you get case head separation. A comparator isn't your chamber. It doesn't account for radius variation at the neck/shoulder junction or body shoulder junction. Fitment is fitment, measurement is measurement. Once you have a reliable enough understanding of how the chamber measures and record actual working dimensions... then you can likely just go from measurement as long as you're using the same comparator. Until then, a fitment check is needed before and after sizing.
