I simply dont understand why locomotive does not have sanders installed....homemade sanders are easy to make. On a vintage brickworks railroad where i worked as volunteer we had sanders made from ols steel oilcans

Previously, this diesel locomotive had a sander. However, must use good quality sand (fine grains). using regular sand makes the sander channel clogged. & good quality sand is very expensive. So I use a manual sander, and even then it is rarely used. only used when the locomotive wheels slip when the track is slippery and uphill as in this video. Apart from that, don't use a manual sander.
