You realize the SD speed is bc it maxes at 28.5? If you add an inch and a half you’re adding 15 more FPS. So that comparison you used doesn’t really hold merit.
@KnightsoftheApex

15FPS faster would still make it slow by today's standards but I've been informed by other commenters the bow is faster than advertised in which case I will gladly eat my words.

@@Noc426 true but as another commenter put it, short draw archers don't need a 7" BH. And you can't say "well if it had a shorter brace height..." because you can't adjust for that. You might was well say "well if it was a different bow entirely..." because they are equally mute points.

@@KnightsoftheApex that would put the ibo if this was a 30” draw right at 340. How is that slow by today’s standards?? That is faster than many flagship bows. The only bows faster are going to be labeled at “speed bows” that have 350 ibo. But to call 340 fps slow, come on man.

has a great reputation for holding its speed with the arrows over 500 grains. A deer can react to a speed of 1200 fps so it really comes to the hunter reading body position & being stealthy. I will follow-up over the weekend with my 1st impressions.

I shot both the nexus 2 and nexus 4 and the nexus 2 by far had more vibration. I shot the nexus 4 side by side with my V3 31 and the nexus was more dead in the hand to me than my V3. I’ve only ever owned Mathews and was shocked at how well the prime shot.

Our Nexus came into the shop put of time. We timed and tuned it and it's was probably the quietest Prime I've ever shot. Now the string stop does create a lot of noise so that needs to be replaced right out of the gate but if you do that the Nexus is extremely quiet. In terms of the solutions SD, it's a 7" brace height bow that shoots 323 at 28.5 so at 30" that's a 348 bow. It's faster than the SR6 at every draw length and the SR6 is a 352 bow
@KnightsoftheApex
@KnightsoftheApex 4 жыл бұрын
Really interesting points about the Nexus. Idk about that math on the SD though. Bowtech could be different but most bows gain 8ish fps for every inch of DL. Even if the SD is in the 330's at 29" IBO speeds that's a slower bow than us shorties would want especially when there are equally smooth and much faster bows available.
@ianmcgaughey1
@ianmcgaughey1 4 жыл бұрын
@@KnightsoftheApex if you have an email I can send you a graph that another dealer did testing it at every draw length vs the revolt and SR6. The SD is faster. The bow is not rated at 323 at 30" it's 323 at 28.5. It's right on the website. Mathews avail is the same way.
@KnightsoftheApex
@KnightsoftheApex 4 жыл бұрын
Ahh ok. I was under the impression that IBO testing had changed to be a 5gr arrow at each pound of draw weight to allow manufacturers to test at different DL. Looks like I have to eat crow on that one. Excited to shoot one.
@ianmcgaughey1
@ianmcgaughey1 4 жыл бұрын
@@KnightsoftheApex You're correct on arrow weight. IBO draw length is supposed to be 30" and 70lbs. Since the SD only going to 28.5" that's where they rated the speed. They didn't add the 15 FPS for the inch and half they missing.

I'm with you on the "vibration" thing, we test bare bows with biscuits on them. If you pluck the string with your finger it vibrates. Perceived noise is also an interesting subject everyone hears different pitches and frequencies different. I've heard others say they shot the nexus and v3 in a blind test and the guys behind the curtain thought the v3 was "louder" I do wish there was more of an ability to test out bows in a more fully set up manner, with stabalizers drop away etc which I think the rotating mods would offer for shops.
@KnightsoftheApex
@KnightsoftheApex 4 жыл бұрын
I'm with you. I've talked to shops about having fully rigged up bows and the owners always shoot the idea down. It makes it hard to really talk balance in these reviews because as soon as you throw a sight and rest on any bow the balance changes. Same with noise.

I have a Nexus 4 and it is by far the most dead in the hand bow I've ever shot and I've shot PSE for awhile. I went head to head an Elite Remedy (I had considered Elite) and Prime blew it out of the water. I own a PSE with the evolve cam system and prime definitely does theirs better. Stability accuracy minimal shock it's an amazing bow. Mathews bows are the iphone of the bow world a small tweak and boom new bow and millions sold.

Good stuff. The Nexus I shot on Wednesday was probably one of the quieter vibration free "stock" Primes I've shot. It had a biscuit and sight on it, no stab. Definitely felt fast for a Prime as well. Shot the Nexus, Xpedite NXT, and Bear Redemption EKO back to back to back and if I had to pick I'd probably go PSE>Prime>Bear. That's all my dealer sells for now so haven't tried any of the other 2021s

Very impartial video, just like the ones Steven Hann puts out in Australia. I am with u on the PSE. My 2018 65 lb. model Evolve 35 felt like I was pulling 55 lbs. & the arrow came out like it was a 75 lb. bow. However by the end of the Archery season I was already looking @ a Prime. I tried all kinds of things with that PSE but the grip just made it very unnatural to shoot. I shot the new 2019 Prime CT-5 in January & owned 1 by February. Easiest tuning ever & I had a great Archery season. But it was between that & the Centergy so when months later I had the chance to buy a new in the box Centergy with full warranty @ half price I jumped on it. Same as the CT-5 achieving perfect arrow flight with no strays going left or right. I bought it as a backup but decided the lighter weight was want I wanted to hunt with. I have a range @ home & when getting video on a device halfway between the bow & the target the bow is much quiter than the target. The grip has me intrigued so I guess my ? is if the string angle is a little tight on the Nexus 32 cuz I have my CT-5 setup @ 30 & the Centergy is 29.5". I would like to go lighter & shorter since 32" A2A in 2020 isn't what it used to be in 2015. Thanks for sharing 👍.

Ahhh been waiting for this one! I love my Prime and the Nexus looks like a home run to me. Especially the 34. Agree with the comments, and aftermarket string stop completely quiets the Primes and takes out the vibration. Also COMPLETELY agree about Mathews marketing team.. it’s impressive!!! Imagine if Prime marketed half as good...

How do you adjust a Prime bow when paper tuning? Do they have top hats like Mathews?
@the_sharp_carpenter
@the_sharp_carpenter 4 жыл бұрын
If it needs a lot of left to right adjustment you use cam shims that the dealer should have. If it's minimal (and usually is) you can play with the adjustable flexis roller guard to bring it in line. High and low tears are standard, IE add or removing twist from the cables. I really like the ability to go from 65-85% letoff on the cams to fine tune the feel of valley, holding, and release break.

IBO speed is 30 inches at 70 lbs. The solution SD ibos at 323 because it only goes to 28.5 inches. Same reason the V3 only ibo 336 because it only goes to 29.5 so its impossible to hit that 340+ number. Theyre both 340ibo bows if they could go to 30. Side by side they Solution SD shot better speeds than the sr6 at 28.5 same draw weight and arrow. Thats exactly what is was designed for - better efficiency at shorter draw(SD) lengths.
