In today’s recipe I’ll show you how to cook a Prime Rib Roast in the Big Easy Oil-Less Fryer. This recipe is easy and perfect for the Christmas holiday season or Easter.
Ingredients
• 5 lb Prime Rib Roast
• 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
• 2 tablespoons (approximately) each Meat Mitch Steer Seasoning & Runnin’ Wild Steak Seasoning (or your favorite steak seasoning). Make sure to use a low sugar seasoning, so it does not burn in the Big Easy Oil-Less Fryer
Recipe Instructions
1. Apply the olive oil to all sides of the Prime Rib.
2. Season the Prime Rib Roast with the Meat Mitch Steak Seasoning and Runnin' Wild Steak Rub.
3. Preheat the Big Easy for 15 minutes.
4. Place the Prime Rib Roast in the Big Easy basket and add to the Big Easy Oil-Less Fyer.
5. Cook the Prime Rib Roast until an internal temperature of 127 degrees F (if you are targeting medium rare). This cook took 1 hour 45 minutes.
6. Remove the basket from the Big Easy and let cool down until safe to handle.
7. Remove the Prime Rib Roast from the basket and let rest another 10 minutes.
8. Slice and serve!

Well, I ordered and got in my new Big Easy Cooker, seasoned it last night and prepared a 9.5lbs Whole Sirloin Tip Roast tonight. Made my special rub consisting of Kosher Salt, Course Ground Pepper, Onion Powder and Garlic Powder. Cooked in the Big Easy for 3hrs 45 minutes, let it rest 15 minutes and then sliced into it!! Been doing Whole Sirloin Tips my whole life and this by far was the best one I have ever done, tasty, very juicy and tender!! Think I am going to love this new Bid Easy!!

I saw a 5ish lb Prime Rib Roast at the butcher and it was about $65. That makes me afraid I'll mess it up. Gotta say this one inspired me to, maybe, give it a try. Have to get the meat on sale though. did you make an au jous to go with this? Thanks Jeff.

Many years ago, when Ricky and I were dating, we went to a nice restaurant. He ordered me prime rib. I've never had it. When the waiter bright it out I said, that's not done! Ricky said, shhh! That's how you eat it. Lol. Pretty good. Yours looks delicious 😋

Going to try a 5 rib prime roast for Christmas. Have done turkeys for years. Turkeys I cook 10 minutes per pound and they come out perfect. What is the rib roast cooking time per pound? I use an expensive thermometer on oven and grill, but am wary of ruining an expensive prime cut with bad sensor placement. Like to know expected time. Thanks!

Try letting the prime rib set on a cookie cooling sheet over a cookie pan for 6 hours roughly sitting at room temp. I did one this way and then just used my grandpas style and rubbed it in Lowrys seasoned salt. 6.5 lb took roughly 2 hours but live in Nebraska and made them in December and January so ya it’s cold. Cooked with lid on after 45 minutes without. Let me know what you think if you try. My family loved it

I watched this video and then showed it to my wife to get her "buy-in" for doing a Wegmans Garlic Studded Rib Roast (Bone In) in the Big Easy. She was a little leery of putting an expensive piece of meat in the Big Easy. I added a bit of Salt Lick Garlic Dry Rub to season some additional areas that Wegmans missed in their preparation. Oh my! The result was bliss and my wife was thrilled with the result. I am a fan of the Big Easy and I am thankful for Armadillo Pepper for making such helpful videos of great recipes to try. Hi Gary, I don't measure time on beef as it can vary from cook to cook for many reasons. For example we find out cook times are quicker here in FL than many other US places due to outside temp. Then there's weight, wind, etc. I recommend cooking Prime Rib based on internal temp.

With it being colder where you at, I would expect it to take a bit longer than here. I just did a 7.5 lb turkey breast (video coming out next week) and it took just under 4 hours. A 4 lb chicken takes 1 hour 10 minutes in mine. I'd suggest you drop an external temp probe in the middle of the cooker (with the cooker on high) and check the temp. Mine runs 300 ish....

Robert Anderson: Since you wrote almost a year ago, I assume you figured things out, but you didn't mention if you'd used a meat thermometer. You can use some time per pound to estimate doneness, but a thermometer will tell you the actual temperature. Hope it's working out now.
